Is anyone else able to get the head-to-head page on the Bench Sumo stats site working?

I can't see it either. It doesn't help you but at least you know it's not your end.

It’s not you. It’s me.   I found the issue, and am working on a fix should be fixed.

Really cool ! (Showingoff...)

But the sort doesn't work !?

Pitinosato

It appears the bottom half of the file is missing (the data stopped at Tokugawa)  I’ll upload a new copy, which should fix things.

Fixed.  Note that the sort is slow.  There is a ton of data.  I’m looking at improving performance, but that’s not a quick fix.

I must be missing something. The link brings me to something that just displays the ichimon for each player and nothing else.

Most of all, let's just hope he's ok and Bill Gates didn't get him ! It would be reassuring if he reads us just to write a "hi" so we know he's ok.

I should mention that we had a pretty significant event happen this basho. Check out the Milestones stat

  • Chijanofuji became the first BSer to claim 1000 wins.  He did it on day 1, and sits at 1005.
  • Kintamayama became the second to reach 1000 on day 13. He’s at 1001 now.
  • Jejima should be the next, as he sits at 999.

This has been a rule for the Bench banzuke makers for over two decades. Anyone with a 0-0-15 record whilst ranked in the lowest Bench division automatically goes banzuke-gai.

Here are the possible milestones for the July basho 2022.

Many thanks to Takanorappa and his Bench Sumo stat page where are the good stuff can be mined -->  <http://www.takanorappa.com/ichimons.htm>

There are ten parts (new one added to the usual list!).

1. The players at a new career high rank.

2. The number of active bashos (multiples of 10) - *if* the player turns up in May.

3. Players who have a chance (even if very remote) of going to a new 'multiple of 100' career wins in May.

4. The current top 20 leaderboard for the *all-time* total number of wins.

5. The current top 20 leaderboard for the highest win percentage for *active* players.

6. The top 20 biggest earners from the March 2022 basho.

7. The top 20 biggest earners of all time.

8. The top 20 kensho winners for the March 2022 basho.  (Kensho are sponsorships for bouts)

9. The top 20 biggest kensho winners of all time.

10. The top 20 active players with the highest MCP

This is my first time doing Bench Sumo... what are the rules? The link is down, and if I google it, those rules clearly don't apply to what I'm seeing on the entry form.

Edit: in case it really is as simple as it looks, is it just, you get the points for the wrestler you put in that slot if they win? Check off the boxes at the bottom if you want, and that's it?

Oh... we have opponents? Do those get listed anywhere or do we just kinda find out who we faced off with after it's done?

Ask @Jakusotsu to add you to the BS mailing list if you're not already on. You'll receive the torikumi for each day (who you'll face) and many other stuff. :-)
As far as I saw you'll face Boltbanana on Day 1 and Hofudaryu on day 2 (if I'm not mistaken).

It's all good. The less mystery about this once thriving community, the better.

Hi all!

There is a known bug (gremlin?) in Bench Sumo automation for day 1 entries.

For some reason it flicks over to 'day 5' as a default, and there is nothing that can be done to change it 'day 1' - until Jakusotsu kicks some sense into it.

Currently (as I type) it is behaving itself, so I am going to make my day 1 picks right now, and get my children, Kaba and Baku to make theirs too.

I strongly suggest that you do the same thing, just in case....

Ok, I've now played Bench Sumo for half a basho, and I have... so many questions. I get how the basic game works, scoring points, wins, etc., but it's all the extra stuff I'm trying to comprehend.

1. Technique Prize appears to just be highest scoring/scoring average (I assume these would be the same since we're all playing the same number of days).

2. KCC is the single bracket knockout thing, and it's two days of play for one round of the bracket?

3. The Quality of Sumo award seems to be based on points for what rank of opponents you beat? It looks like you get tons of points for beating sanyaku competition, so how does anyone too low to face them get anywhere?

4. I don't even have a guess as to how the Fighting Spirit Prize works.

5. Same for the Outstanding Performance Prize.

6. The ICF is the team competition, right? How do you join an ichimon for that?

7. Is the Oyakata prize connected to the ichimons?

Uh... I think that's it. For now, anyway. Thanks in advance for any answers.
