Joaoiyama 192 Posted October 9, 2020 I wasn't expecting to jump all the way up to J4, i might actually reach maegashira next basho. My gaming results were overall average but getting the bench makushita yusho made it all worth it in my eyes.
Jejima 626 Posted October 13, 2020 (edited) Hi everyone! Here are the possible 'milestones' for Bench Sumo players for the November basho 2020. A big shout-out to Takanorappa and his Bench Sumo stat page that made this email possible. All the good stuff can be found here --> <http://www.takanorappa.com/ichimons.htm> There are NINE parts (four new ones added for the first time).... 1. The players at a new career high rank. 2. The number of active bashos (multiples of 10) - *if* the player turns up in September. 3. Players who have a chance (even if very remote) of going to a new 'multiple of 100' career wins in September. 4. The current top 20 leaderboard for the *all-time* total number of wins. 5. The current top 20 leaderboard for the highest win percentage for *active* players. 6. The top 20 biggest earners from the September 2020 basho. 7. The top 20 biggest earners of all time. 8. The top 20 kenso winners for the September 2020 basho. (kensho are sponsorships for bouts) 9. The top 20 biggest kensho winners of all time. Enjoy! Kaito 70 Posted October 13, 2020 No biggie, but it's actually my 4th time at a new highest rank. Looks like the problem was introduced in Sept. when it said 2nd time for the...2nd time.
Jejima 626 Posted November 6, 2020 My apologies to all. I actually received this message a long time ago from Marushiki - but somehow forgot to post it to everyone. But here it is.... Venerable Rijicho. The BSYDC have met after the Basho and discussed the excellent result that Norizo had. We would like to congratulate Norizo on his Yusho this Basho and we are excited to see where he goes from here on in. At this stage we feel we need to see how he does over the next Basho or 2 before consideration for the next big step and promotion to Yokozuna. We could also like to encourage our current Yokozuna Flohru, who had a respectable KK, to continue to do his best and uphold the prestigious rank. We look forward to the coming Basho in November, and wish all Rikishi well. Marushiki (Chair BSYDC)
Jejima 626 Posted November 22, 2020 Hi everyone! We have a new winner for the Zentoryu Quality of Sumo Award (ZQoSA) for 2020! It is.... . . . . . . . Norizo! Omedetou Norizo! Here are the full results for the year. It is a little more complicated than usual, in order to compare to the final results for 2019 - as well as comparing to the results after September 2020. REMEMBER regular brackets ( ) relate to last basho (Sep 2020). Curly brackets { } refer to the results for last year {2019}. So, it reads like this. Current ZQoSA position - (Change from after September 2020) - {comparison to 2019 final position} - Rank on the November 2020 banzuke - {Rank on the November 2019 banzuke} - shikona - Total ZQoSA points from the previous 6 bashos - (points gain from after November 2020, basically November 2020 minus November 2019) - {comparison to total ZQoSA points for 2019}. *REMEMBER* We only had five bashos in 2020, so the points scores for this year should normally be lower than for 2019. Jejima 626 Posted November 24, 2020 (edited) Hi everyone, This is the last banzuke that Kaiomitsuki (who has been doing this for at least a decade, I think) will be actively helping with. He will remain as a banzuke maker emeritus, joining the ranks of Kintamayama, Ekigozan and Asashosakari, available for consultation as and when needed. Jejima and Flohru were the other two banzuke makers. This was quite a difficult banzuke to put together. There is a LOT of bad banzuke luck. So, if you ended up with an MK, be warned, you might have been demoted further than you expect. There is some good banzuke luck too (not as much as the bad luck, I think) for some players. There is a big shake-up of the two top divisions, as we have SIX players promoted from Juryo joining Makunouchi. At the other end of the banzuke, only two players have been promoted from Makushita to Juryo. Anyway, here it is.... Oortael 76 Posted November 24, 2020 Big thanks for the banzuke, and tip of the cap to Kaiomitsuki for his work. I received both good and bad luck on this banzuke as I go up 3 ranks with a 8-7, but also Joaoiyama managed to reach Makunouchi from the same J4 8-7. I gotta work harder on this ! Congrats to all, and see you for 2021 ! 1

I'm pretty sure Itachiyama would have received the Nishikigi treatment in Ozumo, but the Bench Banzuke has always been proclaimed to be more dynamic.

Pitinosato 52 Posted November 25, 2020 So it's obviously yours to take the Yusho in hatsu
Pitinosato 52 Posted November 25, 2020 And a very interesting situation in the Sekiwake ranks. All 3 have a realistic chance to become (again) Ozeki. One with 10 wins, one with 9, and one with 8 wins.

Pitinosato 52 Posted November 25, 2020 again me But the Banzuke on the BS-Page says different things than Jejima's posting here (Sekiwake W + E): Jezz: I don't want to claim the rank Andoreasu deserves

Jakusotsu 3,611 Posted November 26, 2020 Alright, I see now what happened there - a manual E/W hiccup with one less Ozeki and one more Sekiwake. Fixed now. Thanks again for catching it!

Jejima 626 Posted January 6 Hi everyone! Get your entries in! Just 35 hours until the initial entry deadline. Don't miss it Here are the possible 'milestones' for Bench Sumo players for the January basho 2021. A big shout-out to Takanorappa and his Bench Sumo stat page that made this email possible. All the good stuff can be found here --> <http://www.takanorappa.com/ichimons.htm> There are nine parts. 1. The players at a new career high rank. 2. The number of active bashos (multiples of 10) - *if* the player turns up in January. 3. Players who have a chance (even if very remote) of going to a new 'multiple of 100' career wins in January . 4. The current top 20 leaderboard for the *all-time* total number of wins. 5. The current top 20 leaderboard for the highest win percentage for *active* players. 6. The top 20 biggest earners from the November 2020 basho. 7. The top 20 biggest earners of all time. 8. The top 20 kensho winners for the November 2020 basho. (kensho are sponsorships for bouts) 9.
