Arrest for gambling with sumo

Recommended Posts

This time it's not rikishi betting on baseball, but outsiders betting on the Nagoya basho wins and losses. Of course only those who are not from organized crime get arrested - members of organized crime are simply doing it in a registered organization.

It happened in Osaka Mainichi shimbun sales offices, an employee let 14 workers of 3 offices gamble for 500yen a bet and kept a commission: thus he made money out of it - and he did it for 4 years, with bets on high school baseball etc. as well.

They should have better tried to engage in our nice little compendium of Online Sumo Games... ;-)

I wonder what were the odds on offer. I assume that no such data has been published though, gambling being illegal in Japan and all.
