If Kise beats Hakuhō tomorrow, it’s very very possible that he’ll get into a playoff with Harumafuji imo. He’d just have to beat Gōeidō and Harumafuji lose to Hakuhō on senshūraku. I think he would lose the playoff, though.

Edit: I don’t think Hakuhō will lose tomorrow, though.

I wonder why he doesn't / can't fight like that every day.

It worked today because he was attacking from the side of Sadanofuji, who wasn't able to produce any forward driving force in return. That seems to be the problem for Endo's knee(s) or ankle, as soon as any significant pressure comes at him from the front, he struggles to stop it and gets pushed out easily.

Also because Sadanofuji doesn't really belong to Makuuchi. He should be able to use his mass much more effectively but seemingly can't because he's not strong enough to withstand pushing attacks, not to mention pushing well himself.

I don't think Hakuho will shatter the tsuna dream of NSK. As a result, most probably, this basho be ended with Kise at 12 wins, Hakuho at 10 wins and Harumafuji at 13 wins.

Kise at 12 wins without a yusho (in your scenario, Harumafuji has 13 wins and the yusho) won't get the tsuna, so the NSK's tsuna dream is shattered anyway.

My prediction:

Obviously Goeido will beat Haramafuji tomorrow, while a humiliated Kisenosato will rise above and beat Hakuho.

Distracted on the last day by his good fortune, Kise will fall prey to Goeido while Hakuho takes out his furious rage on Haramafuji, leaving Takanoiwa to yusho and be elevated to Yokozuna.

Kisenosato doesn't seem to be able to beat the Yokozunae when it matters (and then there's Aki basho last year). It must be pretty frustrating for him, especially after Kotoshogiku's yusho six months ago

Yeah Sadanofuji is a mystery to me. Does he have a history of injury? He seems like he could do so much more but always falls flat with a disappointed look on his face.

I mean if Kise wins 12 this basho, his tsuna-run will still be alive for next basho. But if he only wins 10 or 11, his tsuna-run will be reset to zero.

This is my prediction: Kise will beat Hakuho today but I don't think Goeindo will beat Haru. On day-15 Haru will beat Haku to grasp yusho.

Someone in the yokozuna committee said that even Kise yusho at 12 wins, there's still no post-basho promotion.

If that pattern materialized, Goeido would end up kadoban.

You appear to be firmly under the spell of Sumotalk writers (Hakuho the storyteller, yadda yadda). Therefore it's ironic that you do not take into account the only "shady sumo" theory that has a substantial factual basis: the regular "Save the Ozeki Campaign".

Many people said if not for Hakuho, Kise would have been a yokozuna years ago. Whether intentionally or not intentionally, the yusho-run is largely determined by Hakuho's performance. That's why some people call him "story-teller".

As to Kise, he is definitely worse than Harumafuji who has 3 zensho-yusho (yusho at 15-wins) under his belt. Kise, like Kakuryu, can only yusho or makes a yokozuna when Hakuho is under performance.

Any hair pull which affects the outcome of the match is grounds for a disqualification - intentional or not.
