No. Kisenosato and Hakuho did one this year, Kakuryu and Harumafuji did one last year.

It didn't look like there were that much foreigners  in the hall - so maybe mainly from Korea and China - and it's especially an event for disabled persons: for the first time seat positions for wheelchairs were provided (hopefully not too) near the dohyo (I think at the basho only at the entrances)

Like last year, all the foreigners were at the rear (the ones from the foreign schools and clubs and other places where the invitations were sent). The other three sides were filled up from local clubs and schools, noticeably for the old and the young, and for people with various disabilities. The loudspeaker commentaries and announcements were in both Japanese and English (and no other language). The staff who showed people round were in nice uniforms but they were not the regular Kokugikan staff (though I noticed some familiar faces in the background, making sure that everything was working).

The NSK had proposed the "Ozumo beyond 2020 basho", a jungyo-type 1day event in October especially for foreigners: Sumo culture will be explained in English.

A "Beyond basho" is also planned for 2020. The minister in charge of the Olympics/Paralympics paid the NSK top a visit and asked to have this event again especially for the foreigners who come for the 2020 games, in August (but what if the games have to be postponed to October because of the heat?). 2 times this event was held, no word yet about an even in 2018 and 2019.

Oguruma afterwards told the press about the inclusion of sumo in the Olympic opening ceremony: "In case of a request, we want to look forward to it."

I believe that the 2018 date has been taken up by Harumafuji’s danpatsushiki.
