Sekitori Heya Game - Nagoya 2016 EASY ENTRY

Recommended Posts

The new banzuke is out, so I'm posting the lineups for the 10th edition of SHG, the least popular sumo game :)

NOTICE: Due to SurveyMonkey restraints, I had to merge the Shikona box and the two bonus questions into one question. You'll know what to do, it's explained quite clearly in the survey

BANZUKE TOPICS:

9 teams this time due to Kotoeko's Juryo promotion.

Only one 6-sekitori team this time - Kokonoe. Kise lost two sekitori and only got one promotee.

Click here to fill in the entry form.

Rules:

The player's task is to sort the sekitori within their respective heyas by how many wins he/she thinks those sekitori will get during the upcoming basho.

TOP - most wins, BOTTOM - least wins. In case of two rikishi with identical number of wins, the score of the one with a higher rank will be considered better.

Scoring:

After the basho, 1 point will be awarded for every correctly guessed A>B-type (A has more wins than B) relation between every two members of a "team".

Bull’s-eye points will be awarded for getting the order of the whole "team" right (a bull's-eye) (the more sekitori in a heya, the higher the bonus):
+3 for a 3-sekitori heya,
+5 for a 4-sekitori heya
+8 for a 5-sekitori heya
+12 for a 6-sekitori heya

+17 for a 7-sekitori heya etc.

There are also 2 bonus question for 4 points each:

1. Which of the featured teams do you think will have the highest average number of wins?

2. Which of the featured teams do you think will have the lowest average number of wins?

(1. in case of an identical average number of wins, the scores of bigger teams will be treated as better. In case of two or more equally big teams getting the same best average number of wins, all of them will be considered "winners". And vice versa for 2. - in case of two or more identical lowest averages, the biggest team is considered worse)

Highest possible score for Nagoya 2016: 121 + 8 = 129 pts

TIE-BREAKERS:

1. Most "base" points (that is, excluding bull's-eye bonuses and bonus question bonuses)

2. Base points for 6-sekitori heya

3. Base points for 5-sekitori heya

etc

Click here to fill in the entry form.

DEADLINE: beginning of the first sekitori bout on Day 1 (hopefully someone will be able to provide this information if needed)

Done. I guess. And I am back after "i-forgot-and-kosho'd-myself" period...

If I forgot two additional questions:

TOP: Isegahama

FLOP: Kokonoe

Entered! If there's any consolation for finishing dead last in Natsu, it's the fact that I can't possibly do any worse this time around!

Best of luck to everyone.

I noticed that I can make the bonus questions mandatory so there won't be any more omissions. I'm sorry for the imperfect form you guys had to work with. This includes myself - I also automatically clicked the submit button without answering the bonus questions.

The form has been fixed.

Most: Kise?

Least: Isegahama -- if aminishiki is kyujo throughout, does he drag the average down?

Yes, he does.

Day 4 Standings

Here's the first look at how everyone is doing.

The answer is "pretty badly", but there are no big scoring differences yet, so this might turn out exciting.

After Day 4, the leader is PhorCillic with 47 points and 2 bull's-eyes (Oguruma and Tomozuna). Suwihuto is second, trailing by just 2 points. He's the only player with any Bonus Questions points (Sadogatake as the weakest team). Tenshinhan is third - he has the most base points, but no bonuses of any kind.

1. PhorCillic 47

2. Suwihuto 45

3. Tenshinhan 40

4. Motemakuru 39

5. chishafuwaku 38 (38 base)

Day 5 Standings (I got it right this time)

Suwihuto keeps his 4 bonus points for guessing Sadogatake's haplessness and also has a bull's-eye for that team. This, among other things, puts him in the lead after Day 5. It's far from a safe lead, though, as chishawufaku and Tenshinhan (who has the most base points so far, but not many bonuses) are right behind him.

Here are the Standings.

B - base points

BQ1, BQ2 - bonus question points

Points for teams (for example 3 SAD) are the bonus bull's-eye points

TB1, TB2 etc - tie-breaker points

1. Suwihuto 47 (40 B + 4 BQ2 + 3 SAD)

2. chishafuwaku 46 (38 B + 8 ISE)

3. Tenshinhan 45 (42 B + 3 OGU)

4. Phorcillic 42 (37 B + 5 TOM)

5. Andonishiki 40 (40 B)

6. Gurowake 39 (39 B)

7. kuroimori 37 (37 B)

AVERAGE DRONE 35 (35 B) TB2- 8

8. Motemakuru 35 (35 B) TB2 - 6

9. Senkoho 33 (33 B)

10. Pandaazuma 32 (32 B) - TB2 - 7, TB3 - 18

11. Ryoshishokunin 32 (32 B) - TB2 - 7, TB3 - 17

12. Achiyama 31

Should I be posting the scoring spreadsheet every day like in the last basho, so that you guys know better what's going on?

Or maybe no-one really looked at it and it's not worth the effort?

Simple daily results (like today) are ultra fine for me

Thanks

Senkoho,

I trust you running the game, and all calculations, so if it is too much of work I don't think you have to post the detailed worksheet every day.

maybe, periodically (like the Salarycap Sumo game) every 3rd day or 5th day, would be o.k.

Just my opinion.

But this simple daily update is very good to see the ups and downs of everybody's picks.

Day 8

We have a new leader again - Tenshinhan has 50 points, with a small BE for Oguruma and 14 points for Kokonoe (all he needs to get a huge BE here is that Chiyotairyu surpasses Chiyoo). Suwihuto remains the only player with any BQ points and he's second just 2 points behind the leader. A huge, 9-point gap divides him and Andonishiki, who's currently third.

1. Tenshinhan 50 (47 B + 3 OGU)

2. Suwihuto 48 (41 B + 4 BQ2 + 3 SAD)

3. Andonishiki 39 (39 B)

4. Gurowake 38 (38 B) TB2 - 8

5. kuroimori 38 (38 B) TB2 - 7

6. chishafuwaku 37 (37 B)

7. Motemakuru 36 (36 B) TB2 - 5, TB3 - 24

8. PhorCillic 36 (36 B) TB2 - 5, TB3 - 20

9. Ryoshishokunin 35 (35 B)

AVERAGE DRONE 34 (34 B)

10. Pandaazuma 33 (33 B)

11. Achiyama 32 (32 B) TB2 - 7

12. Senkoho 32 (32 B) TB2 - 3

Day 10

WOW! is all I can say about Tenshinhan's score after Day 10. He's got a 27-point bull's-eye for Kokonoe, a 18-point bull's-eye for Sakaigawa and a 6-point bull's-eye for Oguruma. I repeat - WOW! Faaar behind him is Suwihuto with what would normally be considered a great result - 49 points. Eeeven fuuuurhter behind is kuroimori with 41 points.

1. Tenshinhan 73 (50 B + 12 KOK + 8 SAK + 3 OGU)

2. Suwihuto 49 (42 B + 4 BQ2 + 3 SAD)

3. kuroimori 41 (41 B)

4. Andonishiki 40 (40 B)

5. Gurowake 39 (39 B) TB2 - 9

6. Motemakuru 39 (39 B) TB2 - 6

7. chishafuwaku 38 (38 B) TB2 - 9

8. Ryoshishokunin 38 (38 B) TB2 - 7

9. PhorCillic 37 (37 B)

10. Pandaazuma 36 (36 B)

11. Achiyama 35 (35 B)

12. Senkoho 33 (33 B)

Day 11

SHG is a game of ups and downs. Tenshinhan should know it best, as he lost both of his big bull's-eyes in one day. However his good overall performance allows him to stay on the podium - he's second behing Suwihuto who retakes the lead! Gurowake climbs onto the 3rd place, thanks to his new Sakaigawa BE.

Three players got 18-points BEs for Kise: Ryoshishokunin, Motemakuru and Suwihuto.

Kokonoe is currently the team with the highest average. None of the players predicted this - in fact, 4 players predicted it to be the worst team this basho.

Sadogatake is still the lanterne rouge and it doesn't look as if it's going to change which gives Suwihuto 4 bonus points.

1. Suwihuto 56 (41 B + 8 KIS + 4 BQ2 + 3 SAD)

2. Tenshinhan 54 (51 B + 3 OGU)

3. Gurowake 52 (44 B + 8 SAK)

4. Ryoshishokunin 49 (41 B + 8 KIS)

5. Motemakuru 46 (38 B + 8 KIS)

6. Andonishiki 43 (43 B)

7. kuroimori 42 (42 B)

AVERAGE DRONE 40

8. chishafuwaku 39 (39 B) TB2=8

9. Pandaazuma 39 (39 B) TB2=6

10. PhorCillic 38 (38 B)

11. Achiyama 36 (36 B)

12. Senkoho 34 (34 B)
