Gurowake 4,154 Posted May 6, 2016 Very odd scheduling for both Juryo and Makuuchi. I have to wonder how much of it was due to Kyokushuho's withdrawal after they had already done a provisional schedule, and then shuffled things around so that they changed the least that they could much like Kakuryu's withdraw on Day 1 last year made for a very odd-looking Day 2 schedule. I don't know how exactly they actually go about coming up with the schedule, but it seems to me that they likely use slips of paper and ended up shifting one side of the banzuke up to fill the hole from Kyukoshuho's absence, and then fixing things at the edges of the division to retain normality there. The schedule just doesn't make much sense if they were doing it like how I make schedules with a grid in Excel, as one would expect the rikishi to be closer in rank on Day 1, but I think if you shift large sections of the schedule, it looks more like a normal Day 1 schedule.
