Kintamayama 47,369 Posted May 6, 2016 (edited) A zensho or a 14 win yusho where he will beat all 3 Yokozuna will be enough for a Kisenosato Yokozuna promotion, my sources say. (OK, Nishonoseki Oyakata say..). "But I fear he hasn't trained enough.." he added quietly. So far during training; Hakuhou injured his left knee-OK now presumably. Kisenosato injured his right leg, missing three days of training- says he's fine now. Terunofuji- not ready. "I'm all over the place.." Goueidou- pulled muscle in his right thigh from last basho: "I'm doing better than I thought.. It's the quality of bouts, not the quantity," he said. He was 16-1 against Myougiryuu, Sadanoumi and 4 other sekitori two days ago. Hakuhou admitted he is afraid of cats. WAKATAKE 2,759 Posted May 6, 2016 We shall see. Zensho? Maybe. 14-1? We'll see. As much as I'd love to see Kise make it to Yokozuna, I don't think he's able to handle the pressure when the opportunity presents itself to him.
Benevolance 2,534 Posted May 6, 2016 Hakuhou admitted he is afraid of cats. Somebody tell Kise that nekodamashi is Hak's weak point! This is precisely the secret technique stuff they teach in Naruto!
ScottyJoyJrBebe 97 Posted May 6, 2016 I will be rooting for Kisenosato this Basho. I have come to respect and admire him quite a bit. Best wishes on his (secret?stealth?) tsuna run.

Hope Hakuho agrees ...... :-) Edited May 6, 2016 by Dapeng

sekitori 492 Posted May 7, 2016 What would happen if Kisenosato again goes 13-2, no yusho and 13-2 in Nagoya, still no yusho. That would be 39-6 in three consecutive bashos, but no championships. Is it possible that he then would be considered for yokozuna promotion? Suppose that he isn't but continues with another 13-2 in September, again with no yusho. How essential is winning a yusho for yokozuna promotion? I keep thinking of Futahaguro who became a yokozuna without ever winning a tournament. I'm sure the NSK doesn't want that to happen again, but could consistent excellence alone without a yusho still be a reason for promotion?
Benevolance 2,534 Posted May 7, 2016 No, he has to win something other than the "perennial runner up" award.
