Look at Kotoyuki, smiling like he just won the lottery. here's hoping that this is the start of MUCH greater things for him.

They mentioned this last event at the Kokugikan on the news. They also said, and I didn't know, that Nishikigi was tsukebito to Ikioi for some time. Needless to say, Ikioi's goal is his first kachikoshi from San'yaku. It is also been 16 years since the last Makuuchi debut from Iwate-ken (Tochinohana).

They also highlighted the fact that Kotoyuki had to overcome a serious left knee injury to get where he is today and that it took Nishikigi more than 10 years to finally reach Makuuchi. Unfortunately, they didn't say much about Kaisei.
