Mind you, it's good if he lost some weight. He should concentrate on gaining strength, speed and technique that can help him capitalize on his natural build and weight distribution. Those big legs should become much more powerful. I think its strategical. Hes reacting, not initiating. Thats a big problem, especially if hes a lot slower than everyone. But can he afford to wait and see? Just imagine what it would be like if he was reacting, if he could throw an unbalanced opponent, if he could be a rock that moves at the right time. WTF?I think as a Dai-Yokozuna he has every right to give a tiny little extra shove to someone who is not giving everything into the bout like Ichinojo some time ago but this... *shaking head* Seems to become a basho where the outcome looks very open for a bunch of guys. Looking forward to seeing what happens when the Ozeki and Yokozuna start to meet. Osunaarashi looks sooo strong now. Absolutely going into the fight. No limping and sign of pain anymore as far as I can see. I'm a bit surprised so shortly after his operation. I'm really hoping he stays in this condition. Even better would be1 digit kachi-koshi. Hakuho needs to be smacked down a bit so he will stop his tantrums. Who knows? Maybe Ozekis will pounce on him this basho. Oosunaarashi is doing marvelously this basho. I cannot see him going less than 13-2 or higher this basho. He looks healthy and dominant. I'm really pulling for him. seems like his opponents are consistently getting underneath him, and then easily push him out. is this just a symptom of how tall Brodi is? would this be less of an issue in a higher division? or is it a matter of learning to get lower? or just learning how to counter that? maybe via kimedashi? So far, it has brought him victories, but whether that would continue to work remains to be seen. I'm really rooting for Osunaarashi to get the yusho and propell himself back into the maegashira high ranks where he belongs. dingo 1,161 Posted March 16, 2016 Seems to me that in addition to being tall, Homarefuji's tachiai was totally passive. He just stood up and tried to absorb his opponent's charge. This would maybe work if he weighed 50kg more, but obviously it doesn't work for a tall and slim guy like him. Aminishiki is awesome, if he was healthy too... The ozeki are cruising along really well this basho, Kisenosato showed his strength today and even Goeido has finally pulled himself together. I treat him like a good ozeki, as one would peak Kotooshu or Tochiazuma. The matter though isn't the rank, it's the rikishi. He seems an all-around good guy and I like his sumo. Kakuryuu is a pretty cool guy. "worst yokozuna" is unfair. Remember Wakanohana? Also it just so happens in the past 20 years we've had 5 dai yokozuna. Most aren't that dominate though. Look back to Chiyonofuji's era, which resembles our time more than the past 20 years. One dai yokozuna, and a few others who have 4 or 5 yusho and can still dominate just about everyone. Kakuryuu is a pretty cool guy. I enjoy watching Kakuryuu too. A smooth style on the belt and very skilled, just not up to the levels of recent yokozuna. And a total lack of sportsmanship from Hakuho...that type of thing from him doesn't really surprise me these days and from day 2 on he seems to be more edgy than usual. Kakuryu and Harumafuji just had to tolerate standing in Hakuho's shadow. Now that Hakuho is possibly injured, there is a more even field and the competition has become more open and more exciting.
