Hakushin 4 Posted March 26, 2016 Now - Who made the CUT? The maximum points available for grab on Senshuraku are 32. So, the CUT line is 161 - 32 = 129 points. Meaning that the Top-6 Gamers after Day 14 made the CUT. These Gamers are: FlohruAchiyamaScreechingOwlGaijingaiSuwihutoPitinosato As I made the CUT, I'll send my picks to Jejima (who is KOSHO) and Oshirokita (former TUG Gamer) before I post the Senshuraku Torikumi. These 5 Gamers MUST send their picks to me PRIVATELY - either by PM (on Sumoforum) or by e-mail. All other Gamers (although I prefer the picks to be sent privately) CAN send their picks privately (as described above) or post them publicly on Sumoforum as we did from Day 1 through Day 14. Good luck to everybody with your last picks! Shouldn't the cut be 167-32=135? There's a chance of a golden bonus point too isn't there?Good point, Suwihuto. You are right. In this case the CUT should be: 161 - 37 = 124 But looking at the Standings Table after Day 14, the CUT line still should be drawn after Pitinosato, because the next Gamer Reijinguoshan has 123 points after Day 14. But I'll have in mind next basho to subtract the highest possible score + 5 from the score of the 2nd placed Gamer after Day 14. Yes I reread your post after suwihuto's reply and knew it. Achiyama 1,223 Posted March 27, 2016 (edited) Hello Supporters of TUG, That's it! One more basho is behind us! I think this basho was one of the best until now with 15 Gamers (62.5%) scoring on Senshuraku. I don't recall this had ever happened before. The unofficial Standings (I don't expect any changes with the exception of the order of those gamers with the same score, which might change a little bit when I apply the tie-breaker rule) are as shown in the previous thread. The finalization of the Standings won't affect the Winners, so here they are: Flohru after a masterful defense is the 2016 Haru Yusho winner (First prize...) with 189 points ScreechingOwl with a bold, but smart pick, is the 2016 Haru Jun-Yusho winner (Second prize...) with 180 points Congratulations to the Yusho and Jun Yusho winners - Flohru and ScreechingOwl. Great job! Congratulations to Suwihuto for his bold move on Senshuraku allowing him to jump to 3rd place! Congratualtions and warmhearted "thank you" to all supporters of TUG and participants in the game! Special thanks to Fujisan and Sokkenaiyama, who joined the TUG community! The official Standings and the Sansho will be posted later, most probably on Monday. Regards, Achiyama Edited March 27, 2016 by Achiyama

Flohru 176 Posted March 28, 2016 Wow, it is a great honour to win a yusho in this intriguing and difficult game! Going into the final day with a small lead, it took me forever to decide on a pick. After Hidenoumi won, I was pretty sure I had lost the yusho, but apparently none of my pursuers went for the big points - and Aoiyama even got me some unexpected golden bonus points... Thanks a lot Achiyama for the great game idea and for maintaining it. Hopefully there will be an automation in the future, as TUG really deserves more players! Achiyama 1,223 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) Thanks Flohru for your kind words. It was really a very exciting basho for TUG, I would say the most exciting for the entire short existence of the game. The thing I liked is that the Winners were undecided till the very end. All Top-6 Gamers who made the cut had a chance for the Yusho or the Jun Yusho. Let's see how the things went down, analyzing the decisive bouts: 1.) The bout of visiting Juryo Yusho Winner J1e OSUNAARASHI (13-1) against the M14e DAISHOMARU (7-7): Here is the big mistake I made choosing the undisputed "beast" Osunaarashi, who was cruising through Juryo division and had already secured his Yusho. Same mistake was made by Pitinosato and 4 (four) more Gamers - Reijinguoshan, Mmikasazuma, Kuroimori and Profomisakari. I didn't have the chance to see the bout, but something didn't go right and Osunaarashi lost, and Daishomaru secured KK and staying in Makuuchi for another basho. The result - Achiyama and Pitinosato were out of contention. Lesson learnt! 2.) The bout between M7e TAKEKAZE (5-9) and M14w DAIEISHO (9-4): Daieisho was picked by 6 Gamers - Gaijingai, Pandaazuma, Andonishiki, Jakusotsu, Sokkenaiyama and Shokikogi. Great choice because the 14-years younger Daieisho showed high spirit defeating the veteran Takekaze. The Gamers who had picked him got 25 points each. Among the smart pickers were Gaijingai and Pandaazuma who accumulated enough points, Gaijingai to surpass Achiyama and land at 2nd place with 162 points, and Pandaazuma to bump Pitinosato out of Top-6 with 132 points. 3.) The bout between M5e KYOKUSHUHO (6-8) and M12e TOKUSHORYU (7-7): Tokushoryu, who fought hard for KK and won, was picked by Gernobono and Senkoho, who had been awarded with 25 points each. Gernobono's smart pick allowed him to find himself at 6th place with 136 points, pushing Pandaazuma out of Top-6. And now the 3-way battle for the Yusho and Jun Yusho: 4.) The bout between M12w HIDENOUMI (6-8) and M1w TAKAYASU (5-9): The Underdog with the maximum points for grab - 32, was picked by 3 Gamers - Suwihuto, Gurowake and Itachi (I expected more Gamers to pick him). And did he deliver? Oh yeah! Hidenoumi defeated the underperforming joy-jin Takayasu. The well calculated pick by Suwihuto allowed him to grab the Lead with 168 points. What was gonna be the answer by ScreechingOwl and Flohru? Next: 5.) The bout between M5w SHOHOZAN (3-11) and Sanyaku K1w TAKAKARAFUJI (6-8): The disappointing Shohozan managed to show his dominance over Takarafuji, who lost all 5 (five) previous bouts against Shohozan. The latter won his last battle and awarded 25 points (including 5 Golden Bonus points) to ScreechingOwl who was the only one to trust Shohozan. Trust or just a risky pick? It doesn't matter. This bold strategic move allowed ScreechingOwl to seize the Lead with 180 points. Isn't there enough suspense? What was Flohru's final word? 6.) The bout between Joy-jin M3e AOIYAMA (6-8) and Sanyaku S1w TOYONOSHIMA (3-11): This pretty balanced duel (6-6 in all previous bouts between the two Sekitori) between the well performing joy-jin with a chance for the "best" MK and the terrible underperforming Sekiwake was the bout to decide who the Yusho Winner of TUG would be. Flohru chose my compatriot Aoiyama for his most important pick this basho. And I am proud that Aoiyama was the reason Flohru to become the 2016 Haru Yusho Winner. Flohru was the only one to pick Aoiyama, so he also got Golden Bonus points for that. By the way, Andonishiki had picked Aoiyama at first, but later he changed his pick with Daiesho who in his case brought him more points. 7.) ScreechingOwl is the Jun Yusho winner - again. 8.) Suwihuto is the last Gamer to climb the podium. Some observations: 1.) The only non-winners (I don't like the word "losers", not that I am among them. Although a non-winner is a loser :-) ) were only the 6 (six) Gamers who picked Osunaarashi. 2.) The irony is that 5 (five) of those Gamers would have been winners with their back-up picks: Achiyama (Aoiyama), Pitinosato (Aoiyama), Reijinguoshan (Shohozan), Mmikasazuma (Tokushoryu) and Profomisakari (Daieisho). 3.) The only one who shouldn't be mad at himself is Kuroimori whose back-up pick Ikioi lost as well. 4.) While during the basho it's not crucial if you miss a day or two, it's important to make a pick on Senshuraku. Any pick of an Underdog who won 25+ points would have allowed Fujisan to be in the Top-6. What a basho?! I hope everybody enjoyed TUG and hopefully we get more supporters and sumo fans, who would be willing to give this game a try during the future tournaments (basho). I'll do my best to create an automated Entry Form, which I believe, will attract more Gamers. I know several sumo fans who said that they would try the game if it is automated, or some quit playing, but assured that they will play if it is automated. I'd greatly appreciate any feedback, opinion or constructive critique. Do you think TUG has a potential to become a SB game?
