Hatsu 2016 Videos- Days 1-15

A million thanks to our radio video stars Kintamayama & Tenshinhan for providing coverage of all sekitori bouts, that is pretty awesome!

I am also positively surprised that the notorious bad commentator from the NSK stream - a.k.a. the "dou da?" dude - doesn't annoy me any longer.

Was he fired? (that would be a more fitting situation for him to say "Saa, dou da?"

Or is there a new feature that let's the user turn off the comment audio channel?

They're not streaming the audio anymore. The audio comes from the in-house radio FM broadcast. I guess people complained or whatever.

I prefer the dou da guy over most of NHK's motley crew of English speakers.

I prefer the original NHK guys - classic, maybe a tad old-fashioned and boring, but at least they know what they are talking about.

Homarenishiki second bout + Bonus:

From a distance Homarenishiki keeps reminding me of Foggy Nelson from Daredevil on Netflix.

I think that was ex-Akinoshima during that one monoii, not ex-Chiyotaikai.

Yes it was. I was checking to see if anyone was watching.

Homarenishiki's 4th bout:

Geez, even I can tell he lines up way too far back and always goes high. One trick pony at this point, and his opponents have/are starting to get on to him.

Putting me and Kintamayama in one sentence is way too much honor. He is a hero for us sumo fans (and also the idol of Konishiki...)

I've noticed his distance also but thought he was just being like Hakuho. Does standing back give one more charging power with the distance? Or does it allow a split second longer to gauge what the opponent is going to do?

I was thinking of Akebono but he would squat very far away, and then do his hands-down on the starting lines.

Thanks so much for this!

Kinta why uneasy after day 9?

Chaotic.. I like order. 85 mattas and some sub-par sumo tend to do that to me..
