taresu 38 Posted November 16, 2015 Yeah but Orora has the best rolls ever. Today's match with Shunjin who gets the win. This kind of reminds me of that movie Akira when that kid gets enveloped in flesh and more flesh. I keep pushing but it's just all squishy
Jyuunomori 226 Posted November 16, 2015 Homarenishiki (BRODY!) is as of today a kachi-koshi! He most likely will be promoted to Sandanme even if he loses his two next bouts. Kachi-koshi is a good thing, and so is access to Interwebs. :D
d_golem 213 Posted November 16, 2015 Ura, Mitsuuchi, Shodai, Chiyonoumi, Kiribayama and Hirotsukasa are all worth checking out. Especially Ura who is gonna be fan favourite because of his awkward style. Agree about Ura. Looks like he has progressed very nicely and are able to marry his impressive techniques and agility from previous experience with the bulking up necessary for sumo. Hopefully he can breakthrough the salaried ranks and can't wait for him mixing it up with the big boys.
Katooshu 3,179 Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) Two consecutive losses for Chiyonoumi after a 17-0 (plus a playoff win and 3-0 MZ) start.... Edited November 16, 2015 by Kotooshu's Revenge

Irakusamaru 77 Posted November 16, 2015 I was so focused on Hakuho and expecting him to faceplant on Kimura Tamajiro when watching this live, I didn't realise Myogiryu had fallen off the dohyo for a few seconds. You can almost hear the "YES...noooooo!"
Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted November 16, 2015 Onosho! The new Masunoyama? Great forward sumo and then defeats himself day in and day out. If he ever learns how to finish a bout off, he might be the new Dejima. He's only 19 though...hope to God he improves.
haboki 4 Posted November 16, 2015 Did Yoshikaze just uncover the old tome "How to Win at Sumo; Secret Tricks" or is he just amazingly inspired?
rhyen 1,823 Posted November 16, 2015 It looks like almost everyone in the West Shitakubeya is winning their matches...wowzers.
haboki 4 Posted November 16, 2015 A nice angle (TV) of Tochiozan pushing Kakuryu out showed the head judge with his head down, looking at the ground. He wasn't even watching the bout.
hamcornheinz 839 Posted November 16, 2015 I notice that Kakuryu has trouble with people around his height, but does well against people taller than him. Him losing is almost always straightfoward oshidashi or the sorts.
taresu 38 Posted November 16, 2015 Oh my oh my, here waiting for the gif from Yoshikaze's bout!! Amazing today! Hoping Terunofuji announce his leaving the basho, he is risking his knees. I was affraid Kotoshougiku couldn't keep his winning streak at the secong week. :-(
DarthJF 5 Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) Yeah, I don't think pushing Orora gets you anywhere. You have to grab his belt and use it to move his whole body. It's presumably why he can maintain rank in sandanme despite having practically no talent; there's just enough guys out there that can't work the belt well enough. I watched some of Orora's matches and he must have the world record for slowest tachiais. Just him getting moving seems to take ages. Anyway, about today. I'm starting to think Yoshikaze visited some spooky shrine during full moon, sacrificed blood of virgins, and is now posessed by the hungry ghost of some former yokozuna. DarthJF 5 Posted November 16, 2015 Aminishiki is doing better at maegashira 3 than I would have expected. He has pretty much won against everyone you can reasonably expect him to win.

ALAKTORN 346 Posted November 16, 2015 Hakuhō’s balance on that left leg is amazing. Both on day 7 and day 8 he kept standing on it and withstood attacks for the win.
Yubinhaad 11,594 Posted November 16, 2015 Senior tokoyama Tokosado reached the mandatory retirement age on Day 3. He originally joined Sadogatake-beya as a rikishi, but soon afterwards the heya's tokoyama retired. The young rikishi of the heya shared the duties, and Yasuda proved to be the most skillful, so after persisting for eight basho on the dohyo he retired and became the heya's new tokoyama. As is the custom when a mandatory retirement happens mid-basho, he will continue working until senshuraku, and will then retire after 46 years as a tokoyama. Tokosado with one of the tools of his trade. Working on the hair of former Ozeki Kotooshu. Back in June, all of the tokoyama got together to throw a farewell party to mark the approaching retirements of Tokoyasu (in July) and Tokosado.

rzombie1988 157 Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) I'm convinced some coaches saw my last post. Ichinojo, uses the belt! And is aggressive! And he wins! This is what he needs to do instead of the passionless, passive crap that doesn't work. Where was Kakuryu today? Was he aware there was a match going on? I was so glad to see someone do the obvious counter to Kotoshogiku. It took 7 wins to get to that. Felt so bad for Ikioi. He deserved that win, but not today. He's one of the more intriguing guys as he seems to do great for the first 9 days then falls off against higher competition. Harumafuji had an excellent grip on his belt today. Osuna looked good today but I don't like him only having one loss to give with 6 days remaining. I just don't see a KK. Yoshikaze deserves an award for bullying Tochinoshin. I'm not even joking when I say that I think Shohozan has a shot here at taking this. He's looking so good and so confident right now that I think it's a possibility. Also want to note that Yoshikaze has 29 wins in the last 3 tournaments now under his belt. Means nothing I know, but it's a good score. Should be a fun couple of days coming up with 4 people being one off of Hak. Edited November 16, 2015 by rzombie1988
