Osunaarashi

Myogiryu

Tochinoshin

considering the sekitori for this game i strictly go by rank and not by preference for the rikishi

i do nat care that osunaarashi is at m2e this basho.....simply prefer maegashira to sanyaku

I wish there was another rikishi named Ichinojo to choose from, so my choice would have been

'Guest gyojis' (Sign of approval...) are requested to continue with their excellent help this basho.

Announcing the September 2015 edition of Guess Kisenosato's Aite.... But for K1E Tochinoshin....

All you have to do is guess K1E Tochinoshin's opponent each day, before the torikumi comes out. If you guess correctly, you get a shiroboshi. This is surprisingly more fun (or frustrating) and challenging than it should be. It also gets you to think a bit more about the 'inner-workings' of sumo.

Here is the current banzuke:-

Jakusotsu (Y1E 5-10) Y1

Kuroimori (O2W 5-9-1) O1 chishafuwaku (O1E Kosho)

O2 Andonishiki (O1W Kosho)

Profomisakari (S1E 6-9) S1 Jejima (S1W 6-9)

Tenshinhan (K1E 5-10) K1 The Kyokai (M2W 5-10)

XiaoTan (M1E Kosho) M1 PhorCillic (M3W 5-8-2)

orandashoho (K1W 2-8-5) M2 shimodahito (M1W 1-7-7)

wolfgangho (M3E Kosho) M3 Kaiomitsuki (M4E 3-12)

Gurowake (mz 6-9) M4 Sumozumo (mz 2-4-9)

Gernobono (mz 1-1-13) M5

Yokozuna Jakusotsu again 'merely' managed a KK this basho. It is hoped that he will put in at least an Ozeki Quality performance in September.

Kuroimori got a KK, and so removes his kadoban tag.

Both Profimisakari and Jejima will be considered for Ozeki promotion with a yusho (or good jun-yusho) in September.

The rules are as follows:-
1. Guess K1E Tochinoshin's opponents on each day of the basho.
2. Entries need to be in before 11:30 am Japan time on the previous day, except for the days 1 and 2 entries which need to be in before 11:30 am Japan time on the Friday prior to the start of the basho. If it turns out that the daily toriukumi is printed before these times, then any entry proved to have come afterwards is not allowed for that day (so enter early to be safe).
3. Tie-breakers to decide the Yusho.... We look at the result of the day 15 prediction, then day 14, and so on back to day 1. If still a tie, then the highest ranked on the banzuke can claim the Yusho.
4. If Tochinoshin goes kyujo during the basho, we switch to K1W Okinoumi (S1W Myogiryu, then S1E Tochiozan kept further in reserve, if needed due to a mass spate of kyujos) for the days after his fusensho loss (I.e. we can still guess who gets the freebie). For the immediate day afterwards, (unless it is known very soon after the event), everyone will get a 'kyujo'.

5. Players that are leading the Yusho race (especially in the final few days of the basho), are requested / expected to get their picks in very early (before all the other players, if possible) - in order to avoid suspicions of 'tactical picking'.

Special prizes (many thanks to Yaochoyama):

1. Outstanding performance (shukun-sho) - the one who correctly picks the aite the most consecutive days. You have to have a minimum of three to win this prize.

2. Fighting spirit (kanto-sho) - the one who limits their incorrect aite picks to the shortest number of consecutive days (literally the one whose longest losing streak is the shortest). Any losing streak of 5 or more days would disqualify you from this prize.

3. Technique (gino-sho) - the one who is best at making correct picks when no one, or hardly anyone else does. A point system is used as follows and you need at least 3 points to claim this prize:

3 points if you're the only win to make the correct pick
2 points if you're one of two to make the correct pick
1 point if you're one of three to make the correct pick

New players (Order, order!) are cordially invited to this game - it is now an official second league © game.

4. If Ikioi goes kyujo during the basho, we switch to K1W Okinoumi (S1W Myogiryu, then S1E Tochiozan kept further in reserve,

What would the list of alternatives be in case Tochinoshin goes kyujo? The same?

My aite guessses:

Day 1. Goeido

Day 2. Harumafuji (Kakuryu if Harumafuji decides not to fight this basho)

1. Kakuryu

2. Goeido

3. Terunofuji

4. Myogiryu

5. Kotoshogiku

6. Kisenosato

7. Hakuho

8. Osunaarashi

9. Harumafuji

10. Yoshikaze

11. Sadanoumi

12. Okinoumi

13. Ichinojo

14. Takarafuji

15. Aminishiki

Similar deal as last time: if the pick for a day has already been scheduled against the rikishi we're picking the aite for, go to the pick for the day for which that bout was scheduled. Repeat if necessary until a rikishi is found he has not been scheduled against. If the pick has withdrawn and he wasn't previously scheduled against the withdrawn rikishi, the rules are slightly more complicated than last basho. If he has not been scheduled against every rikishi ranked higher than him not in Kasugano-beya, pick the lowest ranked such rikishi he has not been scheduled against. If a pick is not made by the previous rule, pick Okinoumi if it is at least Day 12 and he hasn't been scheduled against him, otherwise pick the highest ranked maegashira not in Kasugano-beya he has not been scheduled against.

I will endeavor to process these rules myself every day. If I think the pick for a day will have withdrawn upon the publishing of the torikumi for that day, I may change the pick according to the withdrawal contingency above. I don't want to be algorithmically picking someone who broke their leg the previous day, but I understand it's not always obvious when someone definitely will withdraw. And obviously I can't say "If he ends up having withdrawn, retroactively change my pick", so I definitely need to make the decision at the time despite my desire to keep this a pre-basho game for me.

If we have to switch rikishi because Tochinoshin withdraws, all the rules and prospective picks work fine, except change "Kasugano-beya" to the heya the new rikishi is in.

I hope that all the players for this game will not play like that !!! The rules are the rules

The rules are as follows:-

.....

So If you want to play this game post your choice like everybody ;-)

Of course we only are a few players to play but can you imagine the Tategyoji of this game If every player play like you (Laughing...)

It's a daily game not a pre-basho game (Sigh...)

Day 2. Harumafuji (Kakuryu if Harumafuji decides not to fight this basho)

????

is it not part of the game tu GUESS the aite?

so....either harumafuji or not.....did not see any second-choice option in the rules

for me it is something like "harumaruji, but kakuryu if harumafuji fights hakuho"

It's up to the gyoji to decide what to do if I fail to make my pick at the correct time. The only reason that would happen is that something unforeseen would happen that would render me unable to use the Internet, and in that case I'm not going to be arguing with them. I plan out and put on display my plan for the entire basho to save me from agonizing every day over what the Kyokai will do next. Keeping it out of public view would dis-incentivize me from sticking rigidly to the plan and might cause me to spend far more time on this game than I really want to. I fully expect to play the game just as normally as anyone else; the only difference is that everyone will know what I will pick.

If Harumafuji doesn't announce that he's withdrawing and the first notice we get is that he's not on the torikumi, you have a valid point. But if he announces on Wednesday that he won't compete, this saves orandoshoho from having to worry about changing his pick for this game. It's up to the gyoji to decide to accept it, and it just all depends on when Harumafuji's intentions are known.
