Kintamayama 47,273 Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) Injured (right elbow) Harumafuji has started training yesterday at his own heya. He had 14 bouts against the heya sekitori. "The pain has mostly subsided. As for entering Aki, it's too early to say. Please allow me to concentrate on my training for now," he said. He has appeared to have already started some training a week ago. Yesterday he was mostly checking out to what extent he can use the injured elbow. The YDC soken will be held on Friday. Will he be there? "I can't say.. I'll have to see what my condition will be.." he answered. Edited September 9, 2015 by Kintamayama
Kintamayama 47,273 Posted September 3, 2015 Hakuhou went for degeiko to Tokitsukaze where he faced the likes of Toyonoshima and new Juryo Shoudai for 13 bouts. "Just trying to get my ring sense back.." he said. Kakuryuu was there as well but they did not face each other. His injured left shoulder? "90 percent and then some.." he said. Will he get his first yusho as a Yokozuna? "I'm in better condition than before last basho so I'm able to do more keiko," he explained.
inhashi 2,363 Posted September 5, 2015 More degeiko at Sadogatake beya. Two ozeki Kotoshogiku and Kisenosato shared some quality time together almost a week before the start of Aki honbasho. It was three wins but seven losses for Kotoshogiku against his counterpart. Bouncing back from kadoban, the ozeki says that he is unexpectedly surprised and feeling good despite the numbers in practice.
Kintamayama 47,273 Posted September 6, 2015 (edited) Hakuhou and Terunofuji took part in the Isegahama Ichimon rengo-keiko which was held yesterday at Isegahama beya. Hakuhou had 15 bouts, Terunofuji had 20. They both won them all. Hakuhou faced the likes of new Makuuchi Daieishou and was looking good. "It was good, wasn't it?" he asked. Terunofuji was beating up on the likes of Kaisei. "Usual keiko.." he said nonchalantly. Harumafuji was 12-2. "My ring sense is slowly returning," he said, brightly. Kintamayama 47,273 Posted September 7, 2015 Kisenosato trained at Oguruma beya yesterday (Nishonoseki rengo keiko) and faced the likes of Yoshikaze and Kotoshougiku for 22 bout, winning 18. "As well as moving my body, I planned to perspire a lot.." he said. He was seen being pushed back by Yoshikaze, but recovering and pushing him back and out many times. "I'm in pretty good shape," he summed.
shumitto 419 Posted September 7, 2015 Harumafuji had 23 training bouts at his own beya, losing only 1. He was seen at times smiling and during the session he took off the support from his injured right elbow. It is also said that his left-nodowa, migi-ottsuke approach stood out (I don't know if because he used it too often or too well-probably both). He gave no statement, though, about whether he will start the next basho. He only said it was good to sweat. @who is this young guy wearing a short haircut on post #2 ?
Kintamayama 47,273 Posted September 7, 2015 Goueidou was resting today because of pain in his injured right shoulder. He settled for some suriashi at his own Sakaigawa beya. "Today he is resting," said his Oyakata. According to Goueidou, rainy and humid days cause his shoulder to hurt. "Moisture and humidity are not good for my shoulder. I have a dull pain inside and it causes some fatigue as well," explained Goueidou. OTOH, his keiko till now was good. "Just resting for one day to counter my fatigue will help me face the coming basho in a better state..I want to win at least in double digits," he summed.
Kintamayama 47,273 Posted September 7, 2015 (edited) Kisenosato participated in the Nishonoseki Ichimon rengo-keiko (joint training session) which was held at Takadagawa beya today. He concentrated on giving Juryo Amakaze (205 kilos) some special treatment. He had more than 10 bouts against him and also lent him his chest for some butsugari delight, leaving Amakaze all covered in sand. "I kind of got carried away with my fighting spirit.. He was heavy so it was intense, but I managed to use this keiko for my own benefit as well.." said Kisenosato just as I was leaving. Ozeki Kotoshougiku and Yokozuna Kakuryuu were supposed to be there as well but didn't show up so he couldn't face his more serious opponents. "My body was reacting better than usual. I'd like to keep this intensity till the end," he added. Edited September 8, 2015 by Kintamayama
Kintamayama 47,273 Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) Harumafuji trained with heyamate Terunofuji at home today. They had 12 intense bouts. He was mainly checking out the sharpness of his tachiai. It was sharp but he couldn't do his usual powerful tsupparis and couldn't attack with his right. "I sweated well. It was good keiko.." he said. He will decide if he will enter by the end of the week. Terunofuji took on Takarafuji and Homarefuji for 39 bouts. After the training session he was seen icing his injured right elbow, but it didn't seem to bother him at all. "I am a bit tired but I'm OK.." he summed. Edited September 8, 2015 by Kintamayama
Kintamayama 47,273 Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) Kotoshougiku has injured his right hip joint. He was actually looking quite good so far in his preparations for the coming basho. He participated in the Nishonoseki rengo keiko which was held at Nishonoseki beya today. While facing Kisenosato for 8 bouts, he felt pain and left the training area. "It's been painful since yesterday morning. It hurts especially when I step forward. I may have over-extended myself. No problem regarding the Basho participation. Aside from that, Kisenosato is very strong. He is getting heavier day by day.." explained Kotoshougiku. Edited September 9, 2015 by Kintamayama
Johnofuji 232 Posted September 9, 2015 @who is this young guy wearing a short haircut on post #2 ? It is a Mongolian by the name of Naranbayar . I have been told that he wants to join Ozumo .If it's the Naranbayar I know he is very good but someone had better tell him he is about 6 years too late.
Kintamayama 47,273 Posted September 9, 2015 (edited) Yokozuna Kakuryuu went for degeiko to Tokitsukaze beya today, facing the likes of Soukokurai and new Juryo Shoudai for 15 bouts, winning them all. "I'm able to go about things at my own pace," he said. He tried out some late tachiais where he managed to overcome his opponents from a disadvantageous position. "During the basho I get into all kinds of strange situations at the tachiai. I was training with that in mind," he explained. Kintamayama 47,273 Posted September 9, 2015 (edited) Yokozuna Hakuhou was at Tokitsukaze beya as well today, having 19 bouts, 11 of them against Ichinojou. As we all remember, last basho he gave Ichinojou that rough extra shove well after the bout was over. "Although he seems to be under pressure, he seems to be responding well, but there still is no visible improvement at the moment from last year.." said Hakuhou of Ichinojou. Ichinojou himself is trying to improve his speed. "Man, this is difficult.." he said in this thread, although he is not an Y/O. Kintamayama 47,273 Posted September 10, 2015 Terunofuji's preparations have been hampered somewhat by the runs. Yes, stomach ache and resulting diarrhea that was so fierce that he had to miss keiko and go to the hospital. No problem entering the basho, they say.
