On April 14th the Machida-basho: Kitataiki from Machida-city, Tokyo, was there for the forming of the koenkai for that basho.
The head of his own koenkai there was appealing to the NSK for years to have a basho in Machida "While there is a local sekitori in makuuchi" (could be too late then).

Visiting the mayor of Kawasaki for talk about the jungyo there on Apr. 13th were shukun-sho winner Toyonoshima (Tokitsukaze - he might be remembered in the future mostly as the only one to the win against the only Japanese-born yusho winner in 10 years) and Kasugayama-oyakata (ex-Hamanishiki) - his heya is located in Kawasaki and the only one in Kanagawa prefecture.
The mayor is the honorary president of the jungyo, the ozumo Kawasaki furusato-basho.

Kyujo for the jungyo, with pain from the old injuries (and maybe aggravated at the basho): Terunofuji and Endo.

Today Goeido with a torn muscle from day 5 against Kotoyuki did only the dohyo-iri and wasn't in the tournament.

The Iga jungyo today was sold out with about 2800 spectators.
Local Chiyonokuni was glad to be able to take part as a sekitori as the jungyo came to his hometown after 39 years again.
He was of course busy, too busy: model for mage making, fan duty - but after juryo keiko he went to the bath and forgot that he also had kids duty. When he came out of the bath he heard from Yoshikaze "Kids sumo has already started", remembered and rushed back to the dohyo. http://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/1626760.html

Jungyo head (ex-deputy) and deputy watching keiko - Irumagawa as well

Ike's dream had been: "I want to fell Hakuho and send him to intai"

Careful, he'll hurt you..

Hhmmmm...8 more years before he can enter a heya.

Assuming a Shodai-ish performance with no MK, that would take another 2 years before he reach joi ranks.

Will Hakuho still be around in 10+ years time?

They'll allow Hakuko to relinguish his Yokozuna title, slowly falling down to the unsalaried ranks oer the years to wait the little boy's pure promise of intai-ing him.

Matsumoto, Nagano - Mitakeumi's home prefecture.
arriving yesterday evening - Harumafuji
IP160406TAN000261000.jpg
Mitakeumi was main performer at keiko with kids
IP160407TAN000092000.jpg
Homarefuji, so far the core of the kids duty corps, spoke of intai (from that duty) - he as juryo has to wait till makuuchi keiko is over and when kids keiko finishes, soon the juryo dohyo-iri starts: "1 day in 3 please" http://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/1628200.html

waiting for the salute from the kids
s-sato2016040715-ogp_0.jpg
but Taka praised him (and Mitakeumi and Chiyootori, also Sokokurai took part) as a real entertainer http://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/1628201.html
