So far arrhythmia, injuries etc. prevented him from reaching juryo: "It's a world where the banzuke is the most important. Musashigawa-beya on the 3rd was at a welfare facility in Ama-city and also had some sumo for kids of the nearby nursery school. The oyakata with 3 rikishi. The Mie-Musashigawa koenkai had planned this and 2 other similar events in the city that day, with an encouragement rally there later on. Akinomaki 40,814 Posted July 26, 2018 (edited) Kokonoe-oyakata with a local friend and with Chiyomaru made a sympathy call to the mayor of the onsen city Gero, in the region that got hit by the torrential rain, and thus had many reservations cancelled. He told the mayor that he'd like to have a training camp there next year, which also might serve to attract tourists. o o Minezaki-beya rikishi made sympathy calls on the 23rd and 24th to care facilities in the Aichi East-Mikawa region, with sumo presentations. The nonetheless optimistic governor told that the Miyazaki governor award - 1ton of prime Miyazaki beef for the makuuchi yusho - would be something he'd like to be able to present to Kotoeko. Akinomaki 40,814 Posted August 4, 2018 Kataonami-oyakata on the 2nd was on a visit to his hometown Nomura in now Seiyo-city, Ehime, where 5 people had died due to floods from the torrential rain. He met with the mayor, went to a shelter to cheer up the locals and to the Otoi hall. Nomura is famous for the Otoi-ozumo event in November, where the pros meet amateurs - (ex-)Tamakasuga always was a regular guest. The hall with the dohyo had been nearly filled up to the ceiling with water. Now it's a mess and mushrooms grow out of the straw bales of the dohyo. Otoi-ozumo had started in 1852 after 4 villages had burned down completely, to pray for protection from fire - this time a flood disaster. From Karatsu Karatsuumi and Ichiki, both Tamanoi-beya , Koba from Kise-beya, and juryo Kyokutaisei, whose grandfather lives in Saga prefecture. They told the governor about their ambitions for the Kyushu basho. Akinomaki 40,814 Posted November 29, 2018 (edited) Tochiozan on the 27th met with the governor of Kochi to report his 4th kachi-koshi in a row and promised "I'll aim again for sanyaku" o o he also had presents for the governor and handed out invitations to his wedding reception planned for February o Kotoshogiku was home in Yanagawa to report after 3 years again a kachi-koshi at his local Kyushu-basho and to tell about next aims: "Of course return to sanyaku and a yusho, but I also want to make good use of this experience to raise deshi as an oyakata." o Kotoeko was home in Nobeoka and at the headquarters of his local paper to report his kachi-koshi at J1w - makuuchi return expected.
