Isenoumi-beya members yesterday were at the city hall of Oshu, Iwate, the oyakata, Nishikigi, local Sazanami, pref. local Tokio and 2 others. The 2nd training camp of the heya there after 2018 is from the 11th till the 16th and except for the 13th, asageiko is open to the public from 8_30h on.

Kayo - with Nakamura-oyakata - on the 11th was at the city hall of Itoigawa, where he went to middle and high school.

Kotozakura at last in Tottori - today he met with the governor to report the reappearance of a Kotozakura - and that he'll try to have it be again a yokozuna Kotozakura. He was appointed Tottori PR ambassador.

Daiseizan yesterday was at his old school Hiryu high with Arashio-oyakata to meet with the head coach of the sumo club and report his juryo promotion, as the 5th sekitori from the school. He graduated in 2019 and spent almost 3 years as trainee at the heya before he had his dohyo debut.

Onosato on his ozeki run for the first time was at the town hall of the hometown Fujisaki, Aomori, of "sumo god" ozeki Onosato (famous ozeki, but never won a yusho) and watched the akeni and kesho mawashi etc. on display in the Sports Plaza - with the present head of the family. First time he met with the family, who had agreed to have him use the shikona, via a connection through ex-Wakanosato, Aomori ani-deshi of Kisenosato.

Ryuden today reported his kachikoshi to governor Nagasaki of his home pref. Yamanashi, beating soon (Nov.16th) 40 year old Tamawashi on day 15 for the 8-7: "I (also) want to continue till about age 40" - he will have just turned 34 when Tamawashi turns 40

On the 24th he was in his hometown Kofu, at the Yamagata shrine near his old middle school and at a local nursery school

Chiganoura-oyakata (Satoyama), Daiamami, Yutakasho, Inami, Kainoshima, Satsumasho and yobidashi Kumajiro (built like a rikishi, sang a jinku) on the 26th were at the their old high school Kasho (Kagoshima shogyo), for the festivities of 130 years since foundation

Yeah, it's a tired old cliché, but do you expect him to say, "I wanna be an elevator rikishi with a banged-up knee, just like my big brother"?

Self-belief is a huge part of being successful in competition, even when it's unrealistic.
It's what made Takakeisho an ozeki, and when he finally realised he wasn't going to get the rope, he retired.

This is what teenage debutants are supposed to say - and even in their case it is usually met with a sarcastic smile.

We have seen enough of Kotoeiho to conclude that he is not even close to being Yokozuna material. In particular, saying "I am aiming for Yokozuna" after a Juryo MK sounds laughable.

That wasn't any juryo MK: it was a juryo debut MK.

If ever a rikishi needs self belief, it's when trying to recover from that sort of setback.

Nearly every time, someone is with the rikishi, just not shown in the news. Shown is the oyakata, who usually accompanies his deshi, likely Sadogatake is too busy with PR for the basho, so the okamisan went with Kotoeiho, and as usual members of the koenkai - also members of the school/sumo club or family often are there at a home visit.

Every rikishi somehow aims for yokozuna, most shindeshi say that, and they are years, if not worlds away from where Kotoeiho is now. He just left out one step, else his agenda is perfect: makuuchi and next sanyaku, after that aiming for the top.

After the yusho plate yesterday from the governor, today after the rikishi-kai Takerufuji was at the mint bureau in Osaka to receive from the rijicho the yusho winner commemorative relief for his Haru basho yusho last year o

Since 1948 the mint bureau awards the mint bureau chief/rijicho cup to the Haru basho yusho winner, and since 1999 for Wakanohana, the winner from the previous year gets this kind of relief.
