[Open Alpha] Rikishi Game

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I've been welcomed by community. I said I am making my own unique/weird/original sumo-related game...

Introduction

Manager games. Some people may know them, both online (Hattrick?) and offline (FM, etc...). A few months ago (after Kyushu 2014) I started thinking about 'an easy, simple manager-via-WWW game for people to compete and have fun'. That's why this game was born

Short Description

You became an oyakata of your own stable, with ambitions to have the most successful rikishi. But even Kyoto wasn't build by one day... So, first thing you'll do is "invite" a randomly-created wrestler. Next, train (maybe change his shikona) and hope he will be better than his opponents.

Don't worry - if you aren't sure your rikishi will win, you may 'motivate him', increasing his effort.

Temporary Differences

- gradual creation of divisions (more rikishi => larger divs => higher division creation. Don't ask, but players really liked that temporary system.)

- Maezumo with rules similar to other divisions. (temporary, but players want it active, because each rikishi earns points for stable)

Game requires very little time for player to 'keep up with the rest'. Is in Open Alpha, but playable and open for ideas.

When I (finally, exams in June) get my Engineer's degree, I may focus on improving the game. ATM for me is 'a thing, which keeps me away from insanity'. Heh.

Game address: www.RIKISHIgame.net

Next basho there is planned from 20 to 26 April. All stables created before 18.04 will get a little donation.

Available in English and Polish, and with possibility to add more languages.

I'm ready to answer all questions related to the game.

Great stuff!

Will there be detailed rules available about the game dynamics (e.g. how talent, training, technique etc. influence the outcome of bouts), or is it part of the adventure to find out how the variables are associated with each other?

At the moment, the "is it part of the adventure to find out how the variables are associated with each other" is correct. Players may share their experience, and still... it's Open Alpha. :)

But if I had to sort values by their "importance": training, type&effort, potential, time (after certain amount of time /200-400 days, hidden/ result starts to drop), very small RNG. If rikishi clearly dominates the opponent, there is only 1% chance for his lose

All right then. Can you give any information on the income possibilities?

Allright, I'm in. But my Beya has no name. Didn't see any possibility to enter a Beya name. What went wrong here?

Income depends of only two things: Division (Higher = better. Currently Shiro in Jk > Kuro in Jk = Shiro in Mz > Kuro in Mz) and result. Even in Mz you got yen. (Propably that's why current players want to keep it like this)

First bug request. Finally. :) Tried to recreate it with test account and created a stable normally. Hmmm... I need a screenshot to fix that. What did you saw, when you entered stable creation form?

Current server. Is... um... weird a bit. Some days ago it didn't send e-mails (Fixed).

Just did the registration last night on my smartphone, didn't click the on the e-mail link.

One thing I noticed was that the registration was somehow only available in Polish even though I changed to English on the Rikishi Game homepage.

Registration language fixed. Thanks for the request :)

Two minor navigation bugs (only with regard to English navigation):

1) Once you click on the "Home" tab, the Polish page will load.

2) The "Basho" tab seems to be Polish only right now.

I started updating the language plugin. Menu issue fixed. :)

Aaarrrggghh! Still doesn't work on my phone OR my PC. Others have got in so I must be doing something wrong...although I can't imagine what. I even searched for it on Google but couldn't find it. By pure accident (on the search), I found this old thread from 2008, before I started playing the Superbanzuke (only played FS and SG in those days). Some interesting comments on there, with quite a few current members taking part.

http://www.sumoforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=15687

If anyone has any suggestions on how to help me access this game, I'd appreciate it!

I started thinking about using proxy as a solution. Like EU players playing on JP servers in some games.

I don't know what the screen showed and I didn't made a screen shot. I just hoped I did everything correct as the language was Polish only.

So if I can't change anything myself I request you to change my stable name to "Bembel-beya". Thank you.

Changed. "Changing the stable name"... I'll consider this as an option. But I need to prevent massive renaming. Hmmm...

Hi, I left a comment on your most recent news entry on the Main Page. I don't know if others can see my comment, but I noticed that I am unable to find it anywhere. Is the comment section working properly?

To prevent spambots (a little) user may freely comment after the first written comment. Your one was accepted seconds ago and you may now write without moderation.

I am answering the comment on site.

Ah, well...I tried and I tried but can't get on the page. Shame, really, as it seems an excellent game.

Type tries to reflect the difference between styles of rikishi.
TL:DR; version - little advantage, Rock-Paper-Scissors schemed. Mass < Strenght < Technique < Mass

Looks like to have the game available for you, I need to buy a server. Hope I'll have some monies soon (current one is free one)

EDIT: Just did some improvements to the non-game-related part of the site. And published the schedule for next basho

1st Day torikumi announced.

http://rikishi.cba.pl/en/b3d01/

12 matches in Mz... Maybe I should set 7 days to this division too? (think about more money xd)

I get this message.....

Not Found

Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help.

I got the same message as Jejima.

Another thing: I saw that you added 20 Y to each stable. Thanks for the income. However, when I wanted to train one of my rikishi with the new money, the charge was double from what it told in the heya management page.

Edit: I found a link to the torikumi for day 1:
