2015 Haru THE UNDERDOG GAME - INVITATION

Recommended Posts

Dear Sumo Gamers,

The 2015 Haru is quickly approaching and I'd like to invite you to participate in the second basho of The Underdog Game (TUG). As I didn't have time to organize eventual automation of the game I'll manage it again MANUALLY.

I pretty much kept the format from the inaugural basho the same, as most of you liked it that way, of course I did some small changes.

As I am going to extend the invitation to the sumo fans on the Sumo mail list, who, most of them, are not Sumoforum members I want all of you to know that the proper method of submitting your daily entries is e-mailing to:

angelstoyanov55(at)yahoo(dot)com

You can also send a PM on Sumoforum (but be sure that you see a message that "The PM was submitted" as the mailbox volume is not very large).

I will submit my entry to my time zone neighbors Oshirokita and Itachi, before I post the daily Torikumi with the corresponding points for grabs.

Here are the Rules for TUG for 2015 Haru Basho.

The Underdog Game
Rules
Deadline:
The deadline is 15:00 JST every day.
Submitting the Entries:
For 2015 Haru basho the prefered method of submital of the daily entries is sending an e-mail to: angelstoyanov55(at)yahoo(dot)com
PM at Sumoforum is also acceptable (be sure to see the message the the "PM has been sent" as the mailbox could easily be filled up).
Daily Entry
This is a simple game to play: Just chose one Underdog every day from Makuuchi division, who you think will bring you most points.
The Torikumi with the corresponding points for grab will be announced as soon as the official torikumi is available. It will be posted on Sumoforum and will be sent to the sumo mail list as well.
Daily Points for Grab:
A. Basic points (BaP):
5 points for every win by an Underdog.
B. Rank points (RP):
1.) Maegashira - Each rank counts for 1 (one) point:
M16W wins over M16E = +1 point
M16W wins over M15W = +2 points
M16W wins over M15E = +3 points
M16E wins over M15W = +1 point
M16E wins over M15E = +2 points etc. until M1E
2.) Juryo Spank Toy, visiting Makuuchi division – Same as (1)
3.) Equality of Sanyaku ranks:
M1E wins over either Komusubi = +2 points
M1E wins over either Sekiwake = +4 points
M1E wins over either Ozeki = +7 points
M1E wins over either Yokozuna = +10 points
Either K wins over either Sekiwake = +2 points
Either K wins over either Ozeki = +5 points
Either K wins over either Yokozuna = +8 points
Either Sekiwake wins over either Ozeki = +3 points
Either Sekiwake wins over either Yokozuna = +6 points
Either Ozeki wins over either Yokozuna = +3 points
C. Bonus Points (BoP):
1. Kinboshi (Maegashira defeats Yokozuna) – 10 points.
2. Ginboshi (Maegashira defeats Ozeki) – 7 points.
3. Douboshi (Maegashira defeats Junior Sanyaku – K or S) – 4 points.
4. JS-Y bonus (Junior Sanyaku - K or S defeats Yokozuna) – 6 points.
5. JS-O bonus (Junior Sanyaku - K or S defeats Ozeki) – 4 points.
6. O-Y bonus (Ozeki defeats Yokozuna) – 3 points.
7. M13-M16 defeats M1-M4 – 7 points.
8. M13-M16 defeats M5-M8 – 5 points.
9. M13-M16 defeats M9-M12 – 3 points.
10.M9-M12 defeats M1-M4 – 5 points.
11.M9-M12 defeats M5-M8 – 3 points.
12.M5-M8 defeats M1-M4 – 3 points.
13.Juryo Spank Toy defeats Maegashira – 3 points.
Tie-breakers for Yusho Winners:
If several players have equal number of points at the end of the Basho, the following tie-breakers are in force to differentiate them:
1. The largest sum of the 3 best daily scores;
2. The largest sum of the 4 best daily scores;
3. The largest sum of the 5 best daily scores;
4. The largest sum of the 6 best daily scores.
Fusen
Fusen wins for the Underdog are allowed - getting 2 (two) Basic points (BaP).
Sansho
To be in contention for a special prize, a kachi-koshi (eight wins or more) is required.
In case of more than 1 players have the same amount of points - all are declared co-winners.
Kanto-sho
The Fighting Spirit award goes to the player with the most daily bonus points achieved in 1 (one) day.
Gino-sho
The Technique Prize goes to the player with the most daily total points achieved.
Shukun-sho
The Outstanding Performance Award goes to the player with most bonus points achieved during the whole basho.
Promotion to Ozeki
  • Sekiwake rank on the recent two tournaments
  • Kachi-koshi result on the recent four tournaments
  • At least 31kekka points on the recent 3 (three) tournaments

Conditions of promotion are examined only by results of active tournaments, so the player will not lose his chances for the promotion if he/she has to leave out a basho because of any reason, but only if he/she has previously sent a note about his/her absence.

If an ozeki gets a Make-koshi result on a tournament, he will receive a kadoban status for the following basho. If he finishes this basho with Make-koshi, too, then he will lose his rank. But, if he can get at least 10 wins on the third tournament, he will get his Ozeki rank back.

Promotion to Yokozuna
  • Ozeki rank on the recent two or more banzuke
  • Kachi-koshi result on the recent four tournaments
  • at least one yusho (by kekka, not points) in his/her career
  • at least 22 kekka points on the recent 2 (two) tournaments, or must have won the last 2 (two) tournaments in a row.
Conditions of promotion are examined only by results of active tournaments, so the player will not lose his/her chances for the promotion if he/she has to leave out a basho because of any reason, but only if he/she has previously sent a note about his/her absence.
Unlike in real sumo, a Yokozuna can be demoted to Ozeki, if he/she gets 3 (three) makekoshi records in a row. An ex-Yokozuna will be reinstated as a Yokozuna, if he/she wins at least 10 bouts in the tournament following the demotion.
It will be good to know who'd be willing to play TUG during 2015 Haru basho.

For me, I prefer the ancient presentation because the most important are the possible points to win.

I see no need of you being with the work to include other information.

Who are curious can get informations on the websites sekitori-toto game and sumodb.

I prefer you to stay well and not tired exhausted.gif

Thanks, Chishafuwaku.

After Day 2 I am sure that I'll go back to the old format because I'll be posting the Torikumi late at night and I won't have time for these fancy Tables. :-)

Regards,

Achiyama
