Nishonoseki beya is back

Recommended Posts

it seems that Nishonoseki Oyakata (former Tamarikido)!moved to Matsugane beya and switched his stock with Matsugane Oyakata. Thus, Nishonoseki beya will be reopened. The new Nishonoseki promises to restore the ichimon to glory as soon as possible.

Cool. Would you have link? Or did you hear this info somewhere else? I'd like to see more info.

edit: Okay, here's one blurb

I do think it's all so misleading. It says Nishonoseki is being "reborn" but it is largely in name only, from Matsugane to Nishonoseki as former Wakashimazu is taking trading his kabu for the Nishonoseki kabu. Admittedly, some former Nishonoseki support personnel from before were absorbed into Matsugane when it closed in 2013, but there are no wrestlers "coming back home" as they all retired when Nishonoseki closed. It is nice though, as it seems strange to have an ichimon without a heya bearing the same name.

Just one more thing about the way things are run in sumo that makes it interesting.

Hmmm, what does this mean for Kataonami? Two Tamas short of a something or other. At last look, the heya had 10 wrestlers and Tamakasuga is still young. Strange.

They used to have a Juryo gyoji as well - Shikimori Shinnosuke has also gone to Matsugane/Nishonoseki. Interestingly, Google's cache of the Kyokai gyoji page, from October 18th, shows him in Matsugane already then. The previous shisho reached retirement age the other day, now two of his deshi have moved away...

It's said that Kataonami-Oyakata, former Tamakasuga, is a person almost nobody gets anlong. Allegedly, more than one Rikishi retired because of the Oyakata. Hence, it's no surprise seeing everybody leaving his reign.

Sad to hear that. I always had a soft spot for the old beanbag.

I always followed him as a rikishi, I liked his style. How can a guy with an asteroid named after him be so (allegedly) insufferable?

"Tamakasuga has an asteroid named after him. Known as 8432 Tamakasuga, it was named by astronomers at an observatory in his home prefecture."

There is rumor that Kataonami-beya will be closed soon because of mental illness of the Shisho ...
