Akinomaki 39,526 Posted December 26, 2013 (edited) Naruto-oyakata changed his myoseki and heya name to Tagonoura, announced today by the NSK. Naruto-beya disappears, Kisenosato will have his yokozuna run as a Tagonoura-beya rikishi. He may also have to change the premises of the heya, the widow of the former Naruto may not consent to have a Tagonoura-beya there: “The rikishi come first. I want to quickly arrange for a place to train and to sleep.” The heya (now in Matsudo city, Chiba) for a while will move to the defunct Mihogaseki-beya location closer to the kokugikan in Sumida ward, the premises are ready for use, while the old Tagonoura-beya has no dohyo any-more. They can start keiko tomorrow. Singer Masuiyama/Mihogaseki is sympathetic and lends it for half a year. In June next year a new heya in Edogawa-ward is scheduled to be completed. in the old heya yesterday - last keiko there was today no more to the new location the members Kisenosato: “What I do doesn't change, my shikona doesn't change either.” http://www.daily.co.jp/general/2013/12/26/0006596887.shtml http://www.sanspo.com/sports/news/20131226/sum13122605000000-n2.html http://www.sanspo.com/sports/news/20131226/sum13122619300006-n1.html http://mainichi.jp/sports/news/20131227k0000m050050000c.html http://www.nikkansports.com/sports/sumo/news/p-sp-tp3-20131226-1236072.html http://sankei.jp.msn.com/sports/news/131226/mrt13122618480003-n1.htm http://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2013/12/26/kiji/K20131226007274120.html http://www.asahi.com/articles/ASF0TKY201312260413.html Edited December 26, 2013 by Akinomaki
Mark.Buckton 68 Posted December 26, 2013 not exactly Matsudo proper and was always a tricky one to get to - station wise and walk from the station. Mihogaseki as was a much better place and the rikishi will be far happier closer to the action. A move out to Edogawa-ku though........bit inconvenient again if not along the Sobu Line. Asashosakari 18,657 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) Tagonoura is in Dewanoumi-ichimon, Naruto was Nishonoseki – it is not fixed yet if he'll change the ichimon as well. It'll be amusing if Kisenosato ends up bolstering Dewanoumi-ichimon's flagging yokozuna numbers. (Only one of the last 13 has hailed from their group.) In any case, Sports Hochi has quoted the former Mihogaseki-oyakata as saying that his building (housing the new Tagonoura-beya) has a "lucky keikoba", it being the place where Kitanoumi became yokozuna four decades ago. (Who am I to question Ozumo's superstitions?) Edited December 27, 2013 by Asashosakari
Akinomaki 39,526 Posted December 27, 2013 Kisenosato for the first time is now living alone, in a short term rented large apartment close to the heya. Wakanosato and Takanoyama do so as well – in Mihogaseki-beya there are no private rooms available, the youngest sekitori Takayasu lives in the big room with the others.http://www.daily.co.jp/sumo/2013/12/27/1p_0006599536.shtmlhttp://www.daily.co.jp/sumo/2013/12/27/1p_0006599538.shtmlhttp://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2013/12/27/kiji/K20131227007275520.htmlhttp://www.chunichi.co.jp/chuspo/article/sumo/news/CK2013122702000172.htmlAnother source claims the unmarried Kisenosato and Takayasu live in a hotel, married Wakanosato and Takanoyama commute from Matsudo and all 4 rent their own rooms later.http://www.nikkansports.com/sports/sumo/news/p-sp-tp3-20131227-1236539.htmlThe widow didn't know of the change and claims that she hasn't thrown them out.http://www.nikkansports.com/sports/sumo/news/p-sp-tp3-20131227-1236542.htmlLeaving the oldto the new heyaTakanoyama
Itachiyama 107 Posted December 27, 2013 Wakanosato lives close to the heya and his wife was his driver. Going into Tokyo now is a mess for them.
Asashosakari 18,657 Posted December 29, 2013 The widow didn't know of the change and claims that she hasn't thrown them out. She's also said that she will clarify her side of the "didn't give the certificate to ex-Takanotsuru" matter at a later date. That's going to be interesting one way or another if it happens, I suspect. Reading between the lines of various articles, I almost wonder if she hasn't fully grasped that her (non-)actions threatened to result in Takanotsuru's expulsion from sumo and possibly the complete shutdown of the heya.

Mark.Buckton 68 Posted December 30, 2013 They used to have non-sekitori running back and to up the stairs to the communal room just at the back of these weights.

Mukonoso 273 Posted December 31, 2013 For some reason whenever Takanoyama crouches outside the ring (this pic and a previous one), I keep seeing the image of him playing marbles instead of doing sumo. I don't know why.
kuroimori 1,634 Posted December 31, 2013 Recently I’ve often read butsugari-keiko in this forum, but isn’t it called butsukari-geiko? both works fine, the only thing that would create funny images would be this: butsugari-keigo rikishi A: "You go first, Sir!" rikishi B: "Oh no, you go first, Sir! I have to insist!" rikishi A: "You are too kind, may I in return offer you some nice morozashi?" rikishi B: "With great pleasure!"

Orion 431 Posted January 1, 2014 I walked past the heya building yesterday as I was in the neighbourhood. The outside, with the Mihogaseki crest, unchanged, of course. The place has memories going back a long, long way -- to one of the very first times I officially escorted visiting journalists to a training session. The shisho was Mihogaseki the elder, and the son was still an active ozeki. Very late, Andy Adams, owner of Sumo World magazine, came in and without a bow to the master helped himself to a seat at the side. The master gave me an angry glance but I just shrugged and indicated that he was nothing to do with my well-behaved little group. Orion
Akinomaki 39,526 Posted January 1, 2014 As mentioned otherwise, the heya considers to have a homepage created.Tagonoura-beya as well had 4 visiting primary/middle school students. kuroimori 1,634 Posted January 1, 2014 If someone grabs a sushi out from under me with both hands is it called moro-zushi? I guess so, but if he only manages to get hold of the fish while the rice keeps sticking at you, it would be moro-sashimi...

Akinomaki 39,526 Posted January 9, 2014 The old Naruto-beya koenkai dissolves. Those who want to support the new Tagonoura-beya will do that independently. The oyakata wants to have a new koenkai.http://hochi.yomiuri.co.jp/sports/sumo/news/20140107-OHT1T00004.htm
Yubinhaad 11,500 Posted December 14, 2014 The new premises of Tagonoura-beya, situated in Koiwa in Tokyo's Edogawa ward, was officially opened today and staged a Nishonoseki ichimon rengo keiko session to mark the occasion. New signboard above the entrance of the premises. The shisho (former Maegashira Takanotsuru) and his wife pose for pictures. Dohyo matsuri takes place. The participating gyoji are Shikimori Kandayu (left), Shikimori Kindayu (this side) and Kimura Mitsunosuke. Taiko performance from the heya's own yobidashi Mitsuaki. Seated next to the shisho is Nishonoseki-oyakata (former Ozeki Wakashimazu). A few shots of the keiko session. Visiting ichimon sekitori included Sadogatake-beya's Ozeki Kotoshogiku, Kataonami-beya's Tamawashi and Tamaasuka, Minezaki-beya's Arawashi and Takadagawa-beya's Kagayaki. Chirichozu and some meditative sonkyo brings the session to an end. The shisho and the heya's three sekitori pose for some commemorative pictures, in the keikoba and outside the building.
