Aminishiki is always amazing with the kids and in spreading the love of sumo. Is he taking the place left by Kitazakura?

The 50 portraits of Endo with present hairstyle were sold out, selling better than those of the 3 yokozuna, but of the 6 imaginary portraits of Endo with oicho topknot only 3 were sold. Maybe the last chance for the fans to get the old style ones, Oitekaze-oyakata thinks he will have a chonmage for the Natsu basho.

I don't know where Nikkan hides that photo on the site, I can only find it on the goo megapic site - since it's a nice one here is the big version

Meanwhile, near the venue in Kasama there is a monument to a hometown rikishi, former Juryo Juzan. The main plaque on the front is titled 忍耐 (nintai, endurance or perseverance) and lists Juzan's career milestones, from entry to intai. The monument was erected by his local koenkai shortly after he retired in 2004.

The commentary is great. :-D What does wanpaku mean?

Edit: the commentators say something about grip on the dohyō with your feet bandaged or not at about 30:10, can anyone translate it?

Edit: the commentators say something about grip on the dohyō with your feet bandaged or not at about 30:10, can anyone translate it?

Wanpaku (rascal) is usually reserved for the kids up to 6th year primary school. This time it were the net rascals with no age limit.

That was about taping on the feet or wearing tabi for butsukari-geiko - said to be not seen much at the event. Hakuho usually does not, if he wears a tabi on his left foot for the soken or a jungyo it means he'll pick one victim to do butsukari-geiko with - and all tremble when they see him coming like that.
