Maybe the microphone quality was bad but to me it seems those two are better off sticking to their original jobs...

Nothing says a technologically up-to-date group of people like a CD in 2025

where would they play it?

People who prefer media not to be suddenly janked due to licensing issues or other reasons. And they use CD players or CD drives (or more commonly something that's intended for Blu Rays). And of course people who like seeing their CDs on shelves.

As you can see that is the only option being offered in 2025 and clearly targeting a very old aged fan group. I just browsed Biccamera and, indeed, there are CD players being sold and spotted one Sony player that I used to own 25 years ago. Mind you some cost more than 1000 EUR but you get to see your collection on the shelves. But I see your point.

There's also another distinct advantage, although not in small home grown releases like this. I can import a CD from Japan and there's no DRM. I can't buy digital copies of many releases due to region block and I'm not interested in paying for DRM-locked "rental licenses" for the stuff that's not regionlocked.

Looks like we have to split the discussion into Outdated Media

I play Cds with my 4K Blueray player (less than 300€), but I rather archive them on the PC with an external DVD writer and player drive for less than 20€ and play the files from harddisk

My CD "player" is now a transfer device so I can upload my favorite songs to my laptop's Apple Music list.  The bonus is that I can sync the list wit my Iphone and play the songs in my auto using Apple Carplay.  So, I can listen to all my "Greatest CD Hits" while driving -- heaven!

Note: Please send this to the new thread if needed.

The regular Isegahama-beya encouragement rally in Goshogawara by the local koenkai this time was a day before the jungyo in Aomori city, where the heya's 3 Aomori sekitori didn't take part - and Goshogawara local heya top Takerufuji wasn't at the rally. Takarafuji declared that he won't quit and wants to get back to makuuchi.

I can't get used to it: heya top advisor Miyagino-oyakata spoke about the heya to the about 350 koenkai members and got flowers

Isegahama-oyakata apparently wasn't there - another pic with the sekitori:  o

Ajigawa-beya will have a training camp in Ichinoseki, Iwate, in continuation of the traditional one there of Azumazeki-beya, which closed in 2021 and for about 30 years had camps there, last in 2019. The local koenkai of Azumazeki-beya without success so far had searched for a successor in Takasago-ichimon, then in other ichimon.

An Otake-beya party to celebrate (new) Kumagatani, who turned 65 on the 29th and handed the heya over to the next shisho (Kumagatani->Otake) today in Tokyo, when also Myogiryu had his after the danpatsu-shiki. Maybe timed to be afterwards - about 300 guests were at the party. He received flowers from deshi Oho

Oho was at Takakeisho's danpatsushiki to also cut, so maybe also at the party, at Myogiryu's likely only in the intai-zumo and left after his bout

Shirokuma had a pep rally by his koenkai on the 5th at home in Sukagawa, Fukushima - with Nishonoseki-oyakata and about 90 supporters and fans. He aims for double digits and rising higher, to return to makuuchi as soon as possible. The oyakata named his fight with injuries since last year as the reason for his drop, but now a kachi-koshi after 4 basho: "At last (the bear has) woken up from hibernation. In Nagoya he could hardly walk, also before last basho got a new injury. I as well with utmost effort want to assist him to have one day a yusho parade in Sukagawa" (shortened)  o

From the name of the local Sukagawa paper, Abukuma 阿武隈 newsletter, named after the Abukuma river that flows there, I noticed a local connection for the shikona of Shirokuma, which wasn't mentioned so far yet. Different kuma now, but there are many bears in the river region and the name is possibly derived from this https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/阿武隈川
