Thanks for providing this. He is one of the lower rankers that I used to follow after I met him a couple of times through the Ritsumeikan University sumo-bu connection that I had. I'm pleased to see that he had another 4+ years as a solid Makushita rikishi after I stopped following. He also looks to be fit and well in the video.

Mizuguchi on his Gut-channel has started a full sumo course, alone the basics, and for oshi- and yotsu-zumo demonstration he is joined by 2 other ex-Kasugayama ototo-deshi as assistants: Gottsu-kun (Goto) = Shoei and Shohei Ose. Hama Ryota, formerly know as Hokutoarashi, is a puroresu for Big Japan Pro-Wrestling, an organization that is known for their deathmatch style matches. Abdullah the Butcher was one such figure in this organization. Hama wrestled for Hakkaku stable and rose as high as makushita, but was injury prone and would find himself bouncing up and down the banzuke. The closest he got to sekitori was Kyushu 2001 where he was ranked Makushita 6. After retiring in Natsu 2008, he made his debut later that year against none other than Akebono. Afterwards he would win two tag team titles with Akebono. One of his signature moves is the "Makushita Impact"

Here is a match he had a few years ago.

Yep, 67 years old and still kicking. I must say I am pleasantly surprised by this as it seems he has been in poor health for so many years now....

Former Aononami, currently known as sumo geinin "Meccha" was involved in catching a thief at a Musashi Koyama shopping arcade in Tokyo. He heard someone yelling to stop the youngster running towards him and tackled him head on. He kept the man in custody until the police took over from there. "I thought that I didn't stop him there that it would be trouble after that. He was coming at me full speed but I didn't feel scared at all. That's because during my sumo days, I had to tackle people head on so much I wouldn't want to. My waist fell back and I couldn't use my lower back, so I had a bad tachiai. I could only use my arms, and it's more important to get my step in."

Former anideshi Aminishiki (Ajigawa oyakata) on Meccha: "The fact that he did not hesitate to take the robber head on is thanks to his keiko experience. Normally it is dangerous to get involved in that type of situation, but I am glad to have had him as a fellow trainee. It's given me some courage during this July basho."

https://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/202007210001318.html

Aononami made his debut in March of 2004 and his highest rank was Jonidan 94, before hanging up his mawashi in January 2007.

Waratte-koraete https://www.ntv.co.jp/warakora/ this week had a report on the chanko restaurant Akitaya in Hasu city, Saitama, of former Katsurafuji, now Kochi Mamoru, after he married the daughter of the former owner, also a former rikishi, probably this Kochi from Akita pref. How as ex-sandanme did he have this photo with oicho in kesho mawashi taken? Maybe a one-time yumitori job at a jungyo in the Tohoku region? - the kesho mawashi is by the Tanikaze(/Kokufu)-kai, which was the promoter for the Sendai jun-basho http://blog.livedoor.jp/kammyjt/archives/52066715.html

The program shows his bout Kyushu 1988 with Takahanada after half a year in sumo - he was in his 4th year. Starting at 17min: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1S5411a7p3

Misugisato frequently was featured on programs about the 2nd life of rikishi on TBS

For 11 years now he runs a seitai therapy 整体 place in Tokyo, Nakano with the magnificent ®name Gottsu Hand - Misugisato http://www.misugisato.com/ (derived from the rikishi phrase "gottsan desu", the thanks after having received or devoured something).

While active he was was called "Dohyo-edge magician", and before the heya merger also "Waka-Taka killer". After intai he could stay as oyakata for 8 years and wanted to go on, but after a rule change in 2006 he couldn't meet the requirements (to open a heya) and decided to leave the NSK: "What remained was the debt of 10s of millions of yen of the money invested to have a heya." While running a chanko restaurant in Kamakura, he enrolled at a vocational school for seitai therapy, learned it also in main place China, accumulated experience to now have so called "divine" hands. And the well known name contributed much to his success.

This year with Corona, the revenue dropped by 60%, but he can't afford to take a day off. http://maidonanews.jp/article/13636398

Takatoriki (left) with his first son Yukio Naya (right) performed street pro-wrestling in front of his yakiniku restaurant Drago, against pro-wrestler customers. Yukio works part time time in dad's restaurant and the story-line was that the 2 opponents provoke him with some comments as he presents the menu specialties, dad joins the argument, it develops into a fight outside. http://hochi.news/articles/20201225-OHT1T50007.html

I don't want to create a thread "Former rikishi criminal activities", so I just put it here

I think I might create that thread after all.

Mihara on the 1st was arrested in Osaka for suspicion of theft, as dashiko member of a scam group - the one who withdraws the money from the victims accounts with their cash cards, who somebody else has taken from them under a false pretext, usually from elderly persons. The police suspects him of using the cash card of a woman in her 70s to take about 1.5 million yen from her account last December.

I always like to hear about what various rikishi get up to when they retire, especially if they spend their career in the lower divisions or if it's a short career but I'd have hoped you wouldn't have enough posts for a thread on their criminal activities! Though I would read it.

ex- Chiyotairyuu opened a yakiniku restaurant in Roppongi on January 16th. Meatland is the name. The official opening was held today. "I'd like retired rikishi to come work for me while learning the ropes, and then to go back home and open a franchise. I want this to become a chain that would benefit the guys and myself." he said. In the meantime he has hired a Japanese chef (Mr. Nakamura) who has worked in France, and is working on a "French Yakiniku" dish. "I hope to change chefs every now and then and maintain a refreshed menu.." he explained. He prepared a suit and a tie for the opening but left the suitcase on the train, so he showed up in a tracksuit for the grand opening, apologizing with that charming smile that we love so much. "I'd like the price of a large yakiniku dish to be around 2-3000 yen, so that everyone can enjoy it," he summed.

Rare to see a transliteration written in hiragana. Certainly going on the "to-visit" list, especially if he intends to hire other rikishi.
