yorikiried by fate 2,028 Posted September 25, 2013 Watch the last replay starting at the 23 second mark. Chiyo's right foot connects with the tawara at :31 and he instantly collapses. Maybe it gets randomly electrified?
yorikiried by fate 2,028 Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) Seeing the GIF with Kimura Konosuke's KO, I come to wonder: Do the gyoji train to fall in a way which minimizes the chances for damging their attire? Edit: Ah, now I see that he got the other foot in the balls, so that explains that... Cool combo move! torquato 1,075 Posted September 26, 2013 Ōsunaarashi received a heavy blow to his left hip when falling down. He had to lean on the shoulder of his tsukebito when walking out the hanamichi to the preparation room. Of course he comments “I won't go to the clinic. Daijoubu (It's OK), no problem.” He has shown day by day that he's tough and can take a lot. Well, he must have gotten some medical treatment at least. During dohyoiri one could see half of his back was taped.

During dohyoiri one could see half of his back was taped. It clearly did bother him today, maybe he desperately wants to reach Makuuchi next basho, with kachikoshi already secured, he could afford to go kyujo and heal instead of risking to aggravate his bruised back/hip

kuroimori 1,634 Posted September 26, 2013 Endo is getting support from everywhere - also from the men in black, if needed: mono-ii & torinaoshi

Akinomaki 40,465 Posted September 26, 2013 The toes of Tokushoryu are to have been out at the same time as the body of Endo went down - no way: that was a present to Endo. And he showed a big smile after the win.
Masumasumasu 902 Posted September 26, 2013 The henka was bullcrap, anyhow. The toe was out. It was a good call.

Yep, the NSK really have something big planned for him (and very very soon) but the replay looked just ridiculous :-/
krindel 671 Posted September 26, 2013 Hmmm... Either there was a pitch invasion by sumo hooligans after the Myogiryu - Okinoumi match, or the results page of the NSK website is stuck :-p
JariM 29 Posted September 26, 2013 In case you didn't watch the stream here are the results of the last bouts: Goeido beat Aminishiki Kakuryu beat Toyohibiki Hakuho beat Kotoshogiku Kisenosato beat Harumafuji

Fay 1,677 Posted September 26, 2013 Kotoyuki had a concussion, no effect on tomorrow: “Daijoubu desu. I want to do my best.” No damage was detected in the sumo clinic, he will have a detailed check after the basho, just to be sure. I talked to sadogatake okamisan this morning. No concussion but pain in the neck and the right arm. he got some light treatment this morning.
Naganoyama 5,911 Posted September 26, 2013 Great move by Asasekiryu. Combining the attempt to pull himself down by hooking the other guy's leg with a sotogake.

ALAKTORN 346 Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Wow, Kisenosato is having another fantastic basho. Let’s not forget one of his losses came from a really stupid mistake, he could easily be tied first in the leaderboard with Hakuhō. He beat Harumafuji 3 basho in a row, now. Kintamayama 45,109 Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Ooook, can anyone explain what the torinaoshi was for? Bullshit torinaoshi. Populist bullshit. Of course, if NHK showed a different angle,.. Can anyone post proof of Talkshow's toe out together with Endou's body? From the stream it didn't look like that. Akinomaki 40,465 Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Day 11: 7141 spectators If Endo wasn't shini-tai who ever was it? Even when he might finally have hit the ground at about the same time as Tokushoryu's “isami-ashi”, only one like Endo would get that tori-naoshi. Tokushoryu was of cause sure he won, astonished about the mono-ii, asking the yobidashi “Why?”. Endo says himself he lost. Now he is numerically in the yusho race. That's why he has to face a komusubi, Tochiozan, though that may mean he won't get a 10 wins or more result. Seems they really already have decided that he will get the ginou-sho when he fails to qualify for kantou-sho. Asashosakari 19,319 Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Now he is numerically in the yusho race. That's why he has to face a komusubi, Tochiozan ...A bout which was set before today's result. It's not about the yusho race, it's about giving the new hope a primetime spot. He has got it as soon as he was kachikoshi. Seems they really already have decided that he will get the ginou-sho when he fails to qualify for kantou-sho.Except that the "they" that make the schedule aren't the same "they" that award the sansho. Can anyone post proof of Talkshow's toe out together with Endou's body? From the stream it didn't look like that. No proof here, but Talkie's right foot clearly was out all the way spraying sand all over, not just a toe. I can very well see a tori-naoshi here. Day 11: 7141 spectators If Endo wasn't shini-tai who ever was it? Even when he might finally have hit the ground at about the same time as Tokushoryu's “isami-ashi”, only one like Endo would get that tori-naoshi. How can he protect the aite from injury by inadvertently stepping out with his right foot? I really don't think this is a question of shini-tai, just plain isamiashi vs. falling down, and again, video replay might well show that it happened at the same time. Asashosakari 19,319 Posted September 26, 2013 Shini-tai? How can he protect the aite from injury by inadvertently stepping out with his right foot?Shini-tai status by the defender doesn't require a kabai-te move by the attacker... That said, I agree that shini-tai is the completely wrong notion here - Endo was pulling on Tokushoryu's right shoulder/back with his left hand as they went tumbling out, there's no way to call him "dead" in that situation. It's not about the yusho race, it's about giving the new hope a primetime spot. He has got it as soon as he was kachikoshi. That's more like it, but just that induces the thought that Endo had to win today to justify that pairing - and therefore a "present" tori-naoshi. Seems they really already have decided that he will get the ginou-sho when he fails to qualify for kantou-sho.Except that the "they" that make the schedule aren't the same "they" that award the sansho. But surely there is nemawashi ... I keep my oppinion that Endo was shini-tai when Tokushoryu's foot went out - he was just falling down by that time. While he was still pulling, Tokushoryu's foot was just at the tawara. Of course I also only have seen that in the stream, for the rest I just listened to Murray Johnson and read the news. (Kabai-te and shini-tai are mentioned together in Wikipedia, but the article is not very useful to understand shini-tai rulings.)
