Yubinhaad 11,026 Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) Plenty of pictures from Day 13, although we're back to the small format for almost all of the bout pictures. Some nice dohyo-iri shots though. Nobori outside the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium. The main entrance. The entrance is decorated with 30 sake barrels. The Emperor's cup and yusho flag on display inside the entrance. The opening bout of Day 13 saw tall and thin Miyakojima defeat perennial underdog Shikinokawa. After a kyujo in May, Sharinoumi has bounced back with a 6-1 in Jonokuchi, shown here beating Matsuda today. Still no wins by yorikiri for Horikiri, but he too finishes the Nagoya basho with a 6-1 record, beating Haruminato here. Shiraseyama gets his kachi-koshi with this win over Takaseiryu, who falls to make-koshi. After persistant resistance, Morimune eventually defeated Kotouruga with what might be the first shitatehineri I've seen where nobody hit the deck. :-S Daishohama defeats Ogata. Double oshidashi for Wakayamanaka, pushing out his veteran opponent Hokutoryu and rookie gyoji Kimura Kintaro. Okunidake was being driven back but managed to throw Itako at the edge with a kotenage. Kachi-koshi for Okunidake. Good basho for veteran Tanno, who finishes with a 5-2 kachi-koshi after this win against Fujita. Kachi-koshi also for another veteran, heavy Kyokuhikari, who defeated Sadanohana today. Zenpai (0-7) for Terumichi, defeated today by Kotomiyakura. Ikeru dispatches Kakehashi to become the first rikishi to win three Jonokuchi yusho. Let's hope the third time is a charm and he doesn't come back there because of injury any more. (Nodding yes...) Takei secures his kachi-koshi, throwing veteran Hanakaze to make-koshi as a result. Masuryu defeats Kasugaiwa. Tokkoriki defeats Daishofuji. Ginseizan ends with a win against Kotoomura, but it's make-koshi for both men unfortunately. Otakayama throws Torinzan. Daishomune gets his kachi-koshi with a win against Okinoiwa. Daishoho secures a zensho Jonidan yusho, flattening Hokutoo today. Itadaki gets his kachi-koshi, pushing out Gojinryu. Kanryu secures his kachi-koshi, forcing down Ishihara. Masutenryu got his first win of the basho, thanks to Isshinryu stepping out for isamiashi today. Zenpai for Isshinryu. Notozakura remains undefeated with this win against Gorikiyama. Earlier he also inflicted a first career defeat on Ishiura. And now Ishiura throws Onosho, confirming Notozakura as the Sandanme yusho winner. The two rising stars here both finish with excellent 6-1 records, though. Goshi secures a zensho Makushita yusho with a quick win against Kairyu. In upper Makushita, Arawashi crumples to the dohyo after a hard-hitting tachi-ai against Kimikaze. With a second good kachi-koshi in a row, maybe Kimikaze is over his injury problems at last and can work his back up to Makuuchi. Asatenmai in mid-headbang, finishing with a 6-1 kachi-koshi after beating Sakigake. Edited July 20, 2013 by Yubinhaad

Sadanofuji drops Gagamaru. Takayasu is one win away from kachi-koshi thanks to a well-timed henka against Aoiyama today. Shohozan pushes out Aminishiki. Goeido defeats Ikioi. Myogiryu defeats Tochiozan. Kakuryu gets kachi-koshi with a good win against Chiyotairyu. Kachi-koshi for Kotoshogiku as well, having no trouble against Tokitenku. Kisenosato defeats Harumafuji. Hakuho wins his 26th Makuuchi yusho with this win against Kotooshu. Full house #5 on Day 13.
