Doitsuyama 1,173 Posted May 24, 2013 Taiga lost to Wakamisho as expected, potentially setting up a big kettei-sen, but Osunaarashi won the outright yusho along with a sure juryo promotion with a win over Akiseyama in juryo. Sakigake just missed out turning a 0-3 start to a kachi-koshi and a possible, but not likely juryo promotion by losing in his juryo visit against shin-juryo Kizenryu. Arawashi also fell to make-koshi with a loss to Hiogoarashi while already make-koshi Hochiyama won to limit his fall. A few bigger names improved to 6-1 with former makuuchi Kimikaze and Tosayutaka. Future sekitori prospects Sasanoyama and Amutsu also finished 6-1, along with makushita veteran Musashiumi (32-year-old, 50 makushita basho). Shineiyama secured the 7-0 jonokuchi yusho with a win over Kaiho setting up the jonidan yusho for Ishiura who beat Nishiyama and in turn avoided a sandanme kettei-sen as the yusho was decided with Daieisho's win over Matsubayama. That's the second straight Tokyo basho without any playoffs (so far, juryo and makuuchi of course still can get to that point). Doitsuyama 1,173 Posted May 24, 2013 Ohara stages a disappearing act: Can you believe his opponent was in juryo as recently as Aki 2011? And he's not even that old at 28 years.
