Doitsuyama 1,150 Posted March 23, 2013 Harumafuji is continuing his trend of going zensho or bust, losing his fifth bout already with oshitaoshi to Kisenosato, and unfortunately for him there is no intense yusho race going on to avert the focus from him. Hakuho sealed the yusho yesterday already but is going for the zensho yusho himself tomorrow which would be his first since the run of four consecutive zensho during his 63 wiin streak in 2010. Actually, Harumafuji's 9-5 score can't be that bad considering that he still has a shot at a jun-yusho with just Okinoumi and Takarafuji are ahead of him at 10-4. Myogiryu went on a 5-0 run and all but secured his return to the komusubi spot vacated from Aminishiki as the two M4 Shohozan and Toyonoshima fell to 7-7 after bad streaks for them (1-5 and 0-4). Juryo yusho leader Azumaryu was able to send lead juryo Kotoyuki finally to make-koshi and he is in the better position to win the yusho as co-leader Kyokushuho fell behind losing to an amazing recovery move from Satoyama, a turn-around tottari. The two contenders meet tomorrow and Kyokushuho must win two times to get the yusho. krindel 671 Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) Harumafuji's 9-5 score can't be that bad considering that he still has a shot at a jun-yusho with just Okinoumi and Takarafuji are ahead of him at 10-4. I can just imagine the YDC's comments... "Sure, HF only went 9-6, but he kept up with Takarafuji up until the very end, and that's the mark of a true yokozuna" (Laughing...) Joking aside though, in my book I respect his choice not to go the traditional way (kyujo) and brave the bad basho till the end. That is a very good point, he could have made any excuse but chose to stay, next basho i think barring any problematic ankle injury or anything similar he will shine once again, at least i hope so, he may not have Hakuho's consistency but he is as good as Hak when he is on fire and it would be very bad for Sumo in general (in my opinion) if he took a downward slide.
