Yubinhaad 11,728 Posted June 12, 2013 Perhaps surprisingly, still nothing from the Kyokai on this. These are just a few odds and ends I've come across. Kokonoe-oyakata putting his tsuna on. On the dohyo. Yobidashi Soichi (affiliated to Kitanoumi-beya) sweeps the dohyo. At the party afterwards, the sake barrels were cracked open.
rzombie1988 159 Posted June 12, 2013 On a (semi) related note, I went to Ueno (to see the pandas :D) and got this shot of my hand in Chiyonofuji's handprint. True story, I did those and I think I had longer(but not fatter) hands than most of them.
Akinomaki 40,666 Posted June 12, 2013 With former prime minister Yukio Hatoyama (next to HF), formerly member of the House of Representatives for the 9th Hokkaido district - is that anywhere near the home town of Kitanoumi (Usu-gun, Sobetsu-cho) ? At least it is not listed as part of the district. Looks like he is just there as a celebrity.
Yubinhaad 11,728 Posted June 13, 2013 (edited) The Kyokai has chipped in with a few pictures from the event. Shikihide-oyakata (former Kitazakura) and Kitataiki were on hand to welcome guests. Dohyo-iri. The Rijicho and his attendants joined by yobidashi Takuro and 36th Kimura Shonosuke. And joined by another Yokozuna in this one, Isegahama-oyakata, former 63rd Yokozuna Asahifuji. Editing in one I missed from the after-party: Edited June 14, 2013 by Yubinhaad
Jakusotsu 5,995 Posted June 13, 2013 Not very nice of Isegahama to wear high heels.
Swami 245 Posted June 13, 2013 I can't help but think that Takanohana has aged quite dramatically. He looks much older than 41. Swami

Swami I guess it's the tremendous weight loss that makes him look older - and the fact that he doesn't wear a nice suit like in recent footage Edited June 13, 2013 by kuroimori
krindel 673 Posted June 13, 2013 I can't help but think that Takanohana has aged quite dramatically. He looks much older than 41. Swami I guess it's the tremendous weight loss that makes him look older - and the fact that he doesn't wear a nice suit like in recent footage His weight loss has not only decreased his fat, but also his muscle mass dramatically. That always gives a withered, old-guy look.
Yubinhaad 11,728 Posted June 22, 2013 The Kyokai posted one more picture from Kitanoumi's kanreki dohyo-iri, announcing that he would be the feature of TBS's Birthday programme today (June 22nd).
wanderer 159 Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) My respect for Takanohana was raised even higher with his successful weight loss. He once again proved that he takes his endeavors to the end. His weight loss helps alleviate fears that sumo wrestlers are left with unhealthy, overweight lifestyle after retiring. I think Tochiazuma is following Taka's suit as well. He looked different lately. I was also amazed by Takanohana's physique. Look at that rib cage. He is born naturally for sumo. Long live the great Yolozuna.
