Wily, wily Tokitenku, you never quite know what he's going to do, so charging full into him might not be the best idea.

and there are still so many rikishis who keep dashing past Tokitenku and straight outta the dohyo (Henka!!!)

looks like the word about Kinta's and Araibira's video service hasn't spread into the heyas yet

You know, in a way, the NSK are paying this guy for no work done.

A good living if you can manage it!

Took me a while to realize that you are not talking about Araibira there. (Laughing...)

Miyabiyama - dude has just lost all heart. If he really has retirement in mind, it might be better to bail out now and quit; the thing is though, I think he's still in conflict about retirement and just doesn't have his head in the game while he's deciding.

Aran - agreed Kintamayama, Aran is a lot better than we realised; I was one of his biggest critics but I have more time and respect for him now. We'll see if he keeps it up.

It seems that Takanoyama, one of the crowd favourites and best entertainers, is not beyond blatant cheating to get the job done.

I'll be honest, though I don't like it a part of me is applauding him for being ruthless in doing whatever he needs to do to get promoted again; mostly he'll try hard with sumo, but if he really needs to he'll unashamedly cheat.

Are you suggesting that he put some laxative into his opponents cha to encourage him to run faster? Otherwise I can't see what you mean by cheating. There's nothing illegal about a henka.

Everyone seems to begin by not liking the henka but gradually come to accept it as a acceptable technique for a rikishi lacking in girth. As others have said before, if the victim of a henka hasn't learned to expect it from an opponent who uses it regularly, then he isn't doing his job.

Henka is an essential part of Takanoyama's "Tak Attack" arsenal along with the trips, arm bars and slap downs.

What, no gabburi?

Edit. Oh man. I hadn't watched the video yet. That was a work of art. Any rikishi as big as Chiyonokuni who comes out like that against Takanoyama has it coming. Didn't see why they called the rematch though -- I guess Chiyo stepped out while tossing Tak the first time, and the gyoji was in the way?

Harumafuji got out of Gaga's way with enough time to go make a coffee and come back again, his speed and awareness are amazing, as for Takanoyama i think he deserves a "best of" video, i've lost count of the exciting bouts he's had, also i wish Toyonoshima got a little more reward for his efforts, i think he's great.

Thank you Kinta, much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the crowd (and myself) greatly enjoy seeing Takanoyama make those amazing recoveries and reversals. I just wish he could do it more often to stay above juryo. It almost looked like he twisted his knee sideways at the last second to save himself today.

I second the Takanoyama "best of" video compilation.

Not surprisingly Takanoyama won the popularity poll for juryo again today.

Did Takanoyama have that ugly bruise on his forehead yesterday?
If not, I sense some madness from his oyakata towards the henka.

His oyakata or Kisenosato? The allegations that led to Takanosato's death involved both, and after said death, and the choice of such a lackluster successor I wouldn't bet on who's calling the shots at Naruto these days...

... Urgh. I had no idea I'd hit a soft spot when I spoke out. I should be following the backstage / kabu news more deeply so that I prevent screwing over this bad ever again.
