Morimune (aka "baseball boy") was really unimpressive - seemed rather reluctant and unsure in his matches. Edited February 3, 2013 by Fukurou
Doitsuyama 1,056 Posted February 3, 2013 I thought you only had to take part in a maezumo match to move on to Jonokuchi, so what are the 3-win rikishi qualifying for? They are qualified to be finished with mae-zumo. All rikishi are in until they get the required number of wins (or mae-zumo is over), and the order of qualifying determines their place in the shin-deshi presentation. Asashosakari 14,648 Posted February 3, 2013 Oops, I see I have a typo in there, Hiroshima's record should be 0-2-3 of course.

akaikeinfo 7 Posted February 6, 2013 Baraki's the kid who stood on his tippy-toes to "qualify" in terms of the height requirement, right?
Akinomaki 28,295 Posted February 6, 2013 Yes, the one being 160cm and passing nonetheless.
Fukurou 535 Posted March 12, 2013 Updating the Hatsu maezumo class during their first Jonokuchi basho. After day 3: 1-0 record Omori, Ishiura, Kotoseigo, Shimada, Baraki, Umetsu, Ogata, and Morimune. Morimune (the former Koshien pitcher ("baseball boy") who failed testing to join the air force) was winless during maezumo. Baraki is the fellow who had "height issues". Ishiura was going to be in a movie with Hugh Jackman, but decided to do sumo instead. Banzuke returnee Tamaseiryu, who also did maezumo in January, is 1-0 too. 1-1 record Onosho, Kaiho and Kimishima Kaiho was known as Sanjo during maezumo 0-2 record Majima, Hamagami, and Nishihata Hiroshima is kyujo, presumably from the leg injury he suffered during maezumo.

Naganoyama 4,123 Posted March 27, 2013 He's got to be one of the few rikishi currently on the banzuke who doesn't 'look like Kaiho'. Weight-wise he is about 90% of the weight of Tenkaiho, so I suppose that he could be referred to as 9Kaiho.;-)
aderechelsea 106 Posted March 27, 2013 (edited) don't talk about my "son" like that ... :-P he will lose 40 kilos (!!!!!) in the next couple of months and then regain them in the right places in the following years. He is a future sanyaku i tell you !!! he could be the Ozeki that Yokozuna Kyokushuho will need i order to improve his own sumo. (i will stop dreaming now and will just hope for a Makuuchi career) (In jonokuchi...) (Dohyo-iri...) Edited March 27, 2013 by aderechelsea
