Oh, but while I'm still in this thread: I'm still in love with Exil's solution for the former jump-to-to-newest-post-in-picture-ridden-threads problem. Can I make you my exclusive heir?

If he could institute the go-to-the-earliest-unread-post-even-if-it-is-on-a-previous-page fix, he would probably be inundated with first-born children.

Weird. I see the pic embedded here, but didn't in the original post at the regular subforum.

Sometimes I don't even see my own embedded pics after revisiting the thread...

Do I understand correctly: If new posts are overlapping to a new page, then you are instantly ending up on the newest page when you click this show newest post icon? I'm asking, because it is not so for me. I'm always correctly sent to the earliest unread post, even if newer posts follow on new pages.

Oh, and the message in my quoted post up here is of course wrong...

When using View New Content, if I click on the date/time, I always go to the last post in the topic regardless of what I have previously viewed. Am I missing a checkable option?

When using View New Content, if I click on the date/time, I always go to the last post in the topic regardless of what I have previously viewed.

That's working as intended; the link points to =getlastpost. The blue dot to the left of the topic title will send you to =getnewpost, which is what you're looking for.

The way I'm doing it is clicking the topic name at the main page (which also has the "getnewpost" feature) and then browsing by "Next Unread Topic".

I just one time had the effect of seeing a link instead of the picture, after clearing the cache and restarting FF yesterday. After looking at the other location of the pic in another subforum, where it is inside another link without kanji, I could saw the pic in both posts. And I can't get the pic to vanish again now, it always shows.
I can't figure out what is happening and how to embed the pic best, but it seems there should always be the link to the original Tospo location. After displaying it there once, it should for all also appear embedded in the forum post.

Apparently Tospo pictures now can be displayed without problems and the links survive a switch to the BBcode editor, which can now also display links containing kanji.

I suspect that the problem may be sloppy maintenance procedures at the tospo site that cause access to the links to be suspended temporarily or removed.

I'm trying to remember -

When you link from one forum message to another forum thread or message, and you're using Copy Link Location from the message number or that < icon at the top right of the message to get the link, didn't that used to open the thread/message linked To in a new window (if your browser was set that way). Right now it's opening in the same window. Maybe I'm just imagining things.

I wanted to try the “Find by date” option in advanced search, selecting the 2 dates from the calender pop-up, but it always returns “no results”, while without date limitation the full range of results is there.

Is there any hidden trick to this ?

Edit: It works with a format like "October 9 2012" or just "October 2012" (= October 1 2012).

When adding the time, like "October 9 2012 15:00" as the start, it lists posts which are shown on the forum as posted after 17:00.

I don't know if the date and times are displayed different in other time zones. The time shown in the quotes is my CET time, the time shown in the “Posted by” line is -1 hour, and that used in the search option -3 hours.

This time a simple picture post got corrupted by editing, while using the BBCmode in the full editor and submitting the changed post from there:

I've had that happen a couple of times, though my posts didn't have pictures in it. I think one included URLs, the other was just formatted text. Seems just random to me - maybe it's not an issue with the forum software, but one with the database behind it (timeout error maybe?).

Maybe, but I think there is also something in the BBCode editor - last time it happened to me with the Tospo links I could recreate the error - maybe also this time.

At the Search result page the last post of each thread is shown on the right, like on the regular index pages, but clicking on that there just opens the first post of the topic – I keep clicking on that to get to the end of the topic like usual and get disappointed again.

Edit: When not reading new posts I mostly go to the end of a thread and look at the last posts to see if some escaped my notice. I rely solely on the new-post indicators on the main page to look in the specific sub-forum for new posts. I increasingly find that not all new posts are indicated to me that way – I keep finding some who were not.

With the first beta releases of 4.0 on the horizon, we've now moved on to bug fix release 3.4.6. It features improved CKEditor and a lot of small bug fixes. It might fix the post corruption issues, but don't quote me on that. And let me know if anything else breaks.

I just noticed that the display there shows the date of the start of the thread and the icon of the last poster - is that irritating combination intentional?

The post listed on the right is the first post matching your query (at least it is supposed to be). You have to click on the date listed below the topic title to go to the last post.

I see now that the first post matching my query gets displayed with the search term highlighted when I click on the topic title and not highlighted when I use the link on the right. I still don't understand why the icon of the last poster to the topic is displayed on the right and not that of the poster of that given first matching post.

Known issue. Flagged "Will Fix - IP.Suite 4.0".

I don't know how to embed the Youtube videos now in the forum pages - has Youtube changed something or is it bug fix release 3.4.6.?

Edit: Before the link was transformed like this:
url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haGZi1f45Mk/url

Now this doesn't work anymore – the link has to be plain text to be embedded.

With the BBCode pasted to the text editor it gets embedded also.

(Eh?) Hm, I didn't know you could do that. Anyway, I don't think it was ever intended to work that way. If it did, it was a bug that got fixed. There are a few other ways to embed external media, out of which I would suggest using plain text URLs. Also note that links to m.youtube.com will not be embedded.
