Yubinhaad 11,594 Posted November 13, 2012 As expected Baruto is kyujo for Day 3. No word yet on whether he might be able to re-enter later, but I doubt he will. Goeido gets the fusensho. Is that because a Makuuchi ranked would only withdraw if it was far too serious to continue? The makuuchi->juryo drop in status and payment is much less severe than the juryo->makushita drop. When asked how he was, he said he was OK but was grimacing and hopped on one foot to the awaiting taxi. Oops, air raid siren-back in a minute.. Ok, nothing happened. Asashosakari 18,968 Posted November 17, 2012 Just noticed a bit of news that fell through the cracks - Azumazeki-oyakata (ex-Ushiomaru) is absent from his judging duties this basho due to "ossification of the thoracic posterior longitudinal ligament" leading to numbness of the legs when sitting down for long periods of time. Azumazeki is serving as arena security instead, with Sendagawa-oyakata (ex-Toki) taking up his shimpan spot. A surgery is planned for December 25, meaning Azumazeki will most likely not be on judging in Hatsu as well; he's hoping to be back for the March tournament.
