Asashosakari 17,282 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) Big list this basho... And I might be wrong, but I think one of Jk14w Hamaobu / Jk15e Kozakura / Jk15w Kasugasato was overlooked by the Kyokai and is also kyujo...if so, probably Kasugasato. Edit: BTW, according to something I've read elsewhere Naruto-beya's Daihishu and Hara will be intai after the basho. Yubinhaad 10,934 Posted September 8, 2012 JONIDAN West Jonidan 44 OTORIGATAKE (6-1 in March, absent since) Hasn't yet fought a bout under this shikona. JONOKUCHI East Jonokuchi 19 TAKAISAMU (2-5 in January, absent since) :-(
Fukurou 534 Posted September 8, 2012 Big list this basho... Yeah. 8 from Sandanme is bad enough, but 17 from Jonidan and 9 from Jonokuchi... That's 9% of Jonidan and a whopping 22% of Jonokuchi! And I might be wrong, but I think one of Jk14w Hamaobu / Jk15e Kozakura / Jk15w Kasugasato was overlooked by the Kyokai and is also kyujo...if so, probably Kasugasato. We'll have to keep our collective eyes out. There are always rikishi missed on the initial kyujo lists (although no changes there yet).

Asashosakari 17,282 Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) Keitenkai and Kokkai are both out. Some yet-to-be-specified right knee injury for Keitenkai; the only press report currently available is from last night (before the kyujo was decided) and states he went to the hospital right after his Day 2 bout against Tokushinho. I was glad to see he was even able to leave the dohyo under his own power - I've seen other rikishi go down and twist their foot and knee that way, and end up in the big wheelchair and then out of action for half a year. Hope it turns out less serious for him. Edited September 11, 2012 by Asashosakari
Yubinhaad 10,934 Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) I don't know if Fukurou is back full-time this basho, but just in case, there's a double kyujo in Juryo on Day 3: New Juryo KEITENKAI has withdrawn due to a right knee injury; he was flattened by Tokushinho on Day 2 and went straight to hospital for an MRI scan afterwards. KOKKAI has withdrawn due to... everything else being injured, probably. End of the road? :-( Hochiyama and Arawashi get the fusensho. Edit: Ah, I type slow at this hour. :-) Edited September 11, 2012 by Yubinhaad
Asashosakari 17,282 Posted September 11, 2012 Edit: Ah, I type slow at this hour. :-) Yes, but you probably didn't need to rewrite your post five times, so it all evens out. ;-)
Kintamayama 42,292 Posted September 11, 2012 Kaitenkai - right knee anterior cruciate ligament medial collateral ligament injury something-three months to heal. Kokkai - right knee medial collateral ligaments band injury - 10 days to heal. I'll bet he's back on day 6.

Asashosakari 17,282 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) Left knee ligament something injury for Giku, causing him trouble when bending the knee since yesterday's bout against Homasho. Looks like he might be back depending on the exact diagnosis. First ozeki double exit since the fusen system was enacted in 1927, according to the Kyokai. Kintamayama 42,292 Posted September 12, 2012 Baruto (right foot toe injury) and Kotoshougiku (left knee ligament). Sadogatake Oyakata: "Kotoshougiku may return in a few days, depending on what the doctor says and how he feels. I don't want the injury to drag on to the next basho." There was some talk about Kotoshougiku getting engaged yesterday. "No engagement- I am concentrating on sumo!!" he said. Onoe Oyakata: "Baruto's leg is so painful he can't stand on it so I'm letting him rest. It's an injury so we have no choice. He will be recuperating and gambarizing," "I was told it will take a month to heal. I think it will take less..," said Baruto. His old injury, the left knee, isn't in great shape either. He will be facing his first kadoban basho. "I'll think about it when the time comes..I shall gambarize again!!" he summed.

Pikenoyama 27 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) It's more "curva stuff". I like "kurva stuff" for describing Baruto´s situation. Reason being that "kurva" means literally w.ore in Czech but we use it a lot when swearing for being injured. Edited for better translation;-) Edited September 12, 2012 by Pikenoyama
