Shimanoumi gets a new one from his hometown Shima, Mie. Till the 1st it is on display at the city hall. It shows a spiny lobster, with eyes of extra large pearls, and also in the waves some pearls are used. Two alma mater kesho-mawashi for shin-Juryo Chiyonoumi. On the left is the traditional type for Nihon Taiiku university, on the right from Sukumo High School in his native Kochi prefecture.

Takayasu today received a new kesho mawashi, from Pressance Corporation (real estate). It shows a hermit crab, in gold colored embroidery on a dark ultramarine background. He plans to use it at the Nagoya-basho.

A new kesho mawashi for Daiamami, from the local Takeyama sangyo corporation as PR for the beauty of Amami: the blue sea and the green Amami islands, with the special natural monument - protected species, the Amami jay. Lots of sea creatures but the lobster is shown in the sea and is red.. It's not red till you cook them.

They are most closely related by means of the the order decapoda, so as Benihana says, they're not related to the real lobsters. Though there are many different species of lobster and they come in all sorts of colours.

Chiyonoumi has a third kesho-mawashi, featuring a katsuo (skipjack tuna) which his home prefecture Kochi is famous for. It was intended to be ready from the start, but Kochi has been badly affected by the recent heavy rainfall and flooding in Japan, so the kesho-mawashi was stuck in transit for a while. Chiyonoumi is wearing it as a gesture of thanks for the support he has received from home.

Meanwhile the other shin-Juryo Churanoumi also has a shusshin-inspired kesho-mawashi, a lovely design featuring coral and starfish of Okinawa.

The kesho mawashi for Churanoumi from Tottori high school gets sent to him just in time to use it on day 15. It shows an eagle carrying the school emblem, in flight before a red sun on white -  a design by Tottori born artist Masaki Tanikawa.

Chiyonoumi on the 11th used  the kesho mawashi from his high school - followed by Churanoumi 美ノ海 with his new one showing an underwater scenery of the 美beautiful 海sea of Okinawa - donated by the Kise-beya sponsor Hometec ホームテック.

Chiyonoumi had learned that on that day was the funeral of a fellow high school sumo club member, who had died in the torrential rain disaster. 2nd basho as sekitori and already 5 kesho mawashi. Is this normal?

Chiyonoumi on the 26th from his locals got not a fish but a katsuo fishing boat kesho mawashi - and the fresh fishes - at the (2nd) juryo promotion party in his hometown Kuroshio town - the town to catch katsuo provided by the Kuroshio current. The boat is shown with the big catch flags hoisted.

Tomokaze has two kesho-mawashi available for his Juryo debut, with a third already designed for the future. The first is the standard Nittai-dai alumni design.

The second was given by Infinity Enterprises, Inc. and features their sports nutrition brand Musashi.

Finally, his hometown Kawasaki koenkai will give him one featuring the 'kaze' kanji written by an interesting calligrapher called Sezaki, who was diagnosed with autism as a child and rarely spoke. His parents took him to all kinds of activities to try and get him active and expressing himself, such as music and sports, but calligraphy caught his eye. Exhibitions of his work have been held in recent years. I don't know when this kesho-mawashi will be ready but it should look something like this.

Tochinoshin got a kesho-mawashi from Fujicco for Caspian sea yogurt Caspia, with the slogan "persistence win" ねばり勝ち nebari-gachi. Nebari for yogurt means a sticky consistency. Tochinoshin eats two 400g packs a day: "It tastes similar to the one my grandma used to make." He plans to use the kesho-mawashi for the last 5 days, when "Persisting is crucial."
