Jakusotsu vs Kameumi 2:0

bout 2: no goal in slot 1, slot 2: goal for Jaku and Kami's chain broken as © vs ® team draw, slot 3: jaku scores and chain breaks in slot 4

Please re-check the bolded part. :-)

Er, why not? Portugal won, didn't they?

Edit: Ah, I see. Kameumi's chain was broken and he can't score any more goals, but the results still matter. So it's indeed 1-0 for me.

statistics:

16 games: 11 wins, 5 draws

all draws 1:1 (still)

46 goals

2,875 goals per game ( which I consider really high)

two teams are out with nil points (Sweden & Ireland)

no team is safely qualified for the quarterfinals yet, not even the only team with two wins (Germany)

most goals scored: 5 ( Spain & Russia)

most goals conceded: 7 (Ireland)

Group A, C and D saw 12 goals, Group B saw 10 goals.

still no boring 0:0 game and surprisingly few penalties..

doublechecked....

still believe that kameumis chain is broken in slot 2 and jakusotsus is not, so he can score another goal in slot 3.

where do you think is my mistake ?

A Win-Win slot matchup is a 0-0 even if one player's chain is already broken. (Table 7)

Round number two is in the books.

Final standing Round 2 - Group B

Chabonowaka - Pandaazuma 1 - 2

Chabonowaka keeps his chain alive longer but is unable too get back on equal terms with Pandaazuma who scored two quick goals with a brave ® Portugal pick and a slot #2 pick filled with trust in the solid German squad leaving them both on 3p in total.

XaioTan - Pitinosato 1 - 0

XaioTan scores the only goal he needed with a strongly placed Czech Republic thanks to greece knocking off the chain of Pitinosato before it even got going. This result leaves both these two players with 3 points aswell making the table completely open with only one round to go!

That gives the current standing in Group B

(Rank. Name | points | goal difference)

1. Chabonowaka | 3p | +2

2. Pitinosato | 3p | +1

3. Pandaazuma | 3p | -1

4. XaioTan | 3p | -2

PS. Dont forget to send your entries for round 3. I have already recived the entries for round 3 from Chabonowaka and Pitinosato (provisorial). Awaiting the selections from XaioTan and Pandaazuma.

Edit: "Eagle-eyes" Asashosakari quickly spotted that the goaldifference was wrong on Pandaazuma. Changed now! :-)

Wow. Somehow my memory played tricks on me, thinking Kameumi's Russia ® had won their match, leaving me with no way to win.

Nice to have a faulty brain sometimes - cheers!

(Cheers...)

Aww, I wish you conceded and gave me the default-win.

You have a nice, strong team Jakusotsu.

It was a well deserved win.

Ripping off an idea from Wikipedia's Euro 2012 pages for this wide-open group...

Possible Round 3 outcomes (first name = group winner, second name = group runner-up):

[/th][th=1]PandaW draw XiaoW
ChaboW Pa;C C;Pa C;X
draw Pa;C C;Pi X;C
PitiW Pi;Pa Pi;Pa X;Pi

Or in other words: Chabonowaka is through with a draw, XiaoTan definitely needs to win, Pandaazuma is through with a draw unless the other match is also a draw (in which case he needs to win), Pitinosato needs to win unless the other match is a draw (in which case a draw is sufficient for him).

P.S. As I see the match is on. Obviously, in Europe there is a different meaning of the word "suspended". It's more like "delayed" (in USA). In USA suspended means that the game won't be played the day it is scheduled. Or the journalist didn't use the right word. Whatever.

There is a difference, maybe even in U.S.A. as delayed refers to a delayed start while suspended refers to a match which already has started. The match was under way for four minutes and was resumed an hour after the planned kickoff (with 41 minutes played until half time).

Not necessarily. Not only for a game which hasn't started, but also when a game is on and then it stops because of rain, if the game continues, then the game is delayed. You might have several stoppages (especially the baseball games which can be played for hours) and several delays. Once, the game is decided to be stopped and finished the next day, then "it is suspended". If the game hasn't started, and a decision is made not to be played that day - then it is "postponed".

If you have seen my analysis on the previous page (page 11), exactly situations #1 of both matches happened:

Jejima vs. Mischashimaru 2:1

Andonishiki vs. Rannohana 3:1

The Standings after Round 2:

1. Andonishiki 6 pts, +4 GD

2. Rannohana 3 pts. 0 GD (3:3)

3. Jejima 3 pts. 0 GD (2:2)

4. Mischashimaru 0 pts. -3 GD

Very interesting second round. The 3rd will be even more interesting as well.

I am wiating for your line-ups, Andonishiki, Jejima, Mischashimaru and Rannohana for the last Round 3.

ok folks, someone will want to check this, but here's the group c results for round 2:

match 1, Kintamayama vs. Asashosakari:

the first slot was cancelled out in a france vs. france match, and Kintamayama's chain breaks on the 2nd slot. Asashosakari, meanwhile, goes the rest of the way unbroken, but is unable to score any goals in 6 matches against his broken opponent, so this one ends in a 0-0 draw!

match 2, Rubensan vs. Doitsuyama:

we start out quickly with Rubensan's ® Spain scoring against Doitsuyama's (N) Spain. Rubensan then plays Greece on the 2nd slot and their loss, plus Doitsuyama's © win gives Doitsuyama a goal to tie it up, and now he's really at the advantage. but much like Asashosakari, Doitsuyama is unable to capitalize, going goalless until he is broken in the last slot. so this one ends at a 1-1 tie!

so the standings for group c after two matches are:

team W L D GF GA

Asashosakari - 1 0 1 4 1

Kintamayama - 1 0 1 3 0

Rubensan - 0 1 1 1 3

Doitsuyama - 0 1 1 1 5

or something like that. so, i believe anybody is, theoretically alive. Asashosakari and Kintamayama are win and in. but if they both lose, things go to all 1-1-1. i believe since all teams are involved, we would then head to to tie-breaker b, goal differential. as of now, Asashosakari and Kintamayama are tied, and have a comfortable lead over Rubensan, who is also well ahead of Doitsuyama. so at 7 back of the two leaders, Doitsuyama would need to win his game by 7 to continue past the b tie-breaker. but with two common teams between him and Kintamayama, and also having at least one draw, i think he's pretty much out. though there may be a way to get him through if, say, Italy and Ireland were to draw, and Kintamayama had... um, no. i think he's done. Rubensan, however, seems to stand the most minor of chances. i believe he can score 5 in his match, if all the right folks win, and everyone is placed just right. but really, things are looking pretty good for Asashosakari and Kintamayama.

don't forget to get your lineups in (Asashosakari and Doitsuyama)! (i have the others.)

The matchups for Round 3 in group "D" are:

Jejima (England) vs Rannohana (Ukraine)

Mischashimaru (Sweden) vs Andonishiki (France)

The line-ups are:

Jejima

1. Russia

2. England ®

3. Spain

4. Poland

5. Sweden ©

6. Denmark

7. Croatia

Comment: Very happy to meet Rannohana on the bench football field - and I am looking forward to this game. I am guessing this might be decided by my gamble of having England in second slot... But I think I need to play 'attacking' football to have a chance of progressing out of the group stage....

vs.

Rannohana

1) Germany

2) Russia ©

3) Italy

4) Poland

5) Netherlands

6) Ukraine ®

7) Ireland

Comment: So far my fate has rested with my ® team, Ukraine. Winning and losing with them. And now I face my good friend Jejima. Will my fate rest once again on the shoulder's of the Ukraine? Best of luck to England & Jejima!! With Andonishiki apparently assured of making it to the next round, it looks like I need a win to continue on into the round of 8. It definitely looks like it will be an exciting 4 days!

Mischashimaru

1.Italy

2.Germany

3.England ©

4.Sweden ®

5.Netherlands

6.Ukraine

7.Ireland

Comment: Not sure if I have still a chance to reach the next stage.....but however – I enjoyed this GAME!!

vs.

Andonishiki

1. Italy

2. Spain

3. France ®

4. Poland

5. Czech Rep ©

6. Ukraine

7. Ireland

Comment: if I calculated correctly, I won my round 2 bout 3:0 and Jejima beat Misch 2:1, so I'm already qualified for the quarterfinals, as the two boys with 3 pts face each other... Nevertheless, let's gambarize and get the group victory fan the fans and to avoid the winner from Group C. Hiding my R-team on spot 3 and my C-Team on spot 5 should prevent the chain to break too early. I wonder, if Ireland and Sweden still play full-speed, as their sayonara is guaranteed already. Again I'm happy not to deal with Group B and sad to miss Rossija in my line-up.

Forzaviva Españitalia !!!

GYOJI: GOOD LUCK!

Group A - round 3 - thanks for sending all line-ups early

Jakusotsu 6 pts vs Harinezumi 3pts

JAKUSOTSU

1. Spain

2. Poland ®

3. Italy ©

4. Netherlands

5. Portugal

6. Greece

7. Croatia

comment: I haven't even't checked how my last match went, but I guess I'll have to gambarize now!

HARINEZUMI

1. France ®

2. Spain

3. England

4. Italy

5. Czech Rep ®

6. Ukraine

7. Ireland

comment: ---

gyoji comment: after two lucky wins, Jaku needs only a draw to proceed... while Hari better wins with a two goal difference to be safe.

Poland on spot 2 as the R-Team is quite a gamble, but the home advantage might bring it home for our leaderin group A

second bout sees the so far pointless Achiyama steeping up to grab his last chance vs Kameumi

Achiyama needs to win with a high margin (3-4 goals) to pass Kameumi and then hope for Jakusotsu as well....

ACHIYAMA

1. Russia

2. Spain

3. England

4. Netherlands ©

5. Sweden

6. Croatia

7. Greece ®

KAMEUMI

1. France

2. Germany

3. Ukraine ©

4. Russia ®

5. Poland

6. Croatia

7. Ireland

comment: Did not get the 0-0 draw I was hoping for, but it was not THAT far off. Still I have things more or less in my own hands as the goaldifference is on to my advantage. I am somewhat hopeful as I can see my chain go all the way to slot 6 with not 'that' much luck. My biggesr worry is that Russia will be complacent and content with a draw versus the spirited Greek.

Best of luck Achiyama!

Gyoji comment: I would worry more about Ukraine as they face the sensational Arsenal kid THEO WALCOTT and the artistic goalscorer Danny Welbeck. If Kameumi wins and Jakusotsu loses to Harinezumi, we have three players with 6 points....

Kameuminis right, his goal difference is very good, so that could be the crucial point.

GOOD LUCK ALL

Last round of the group play.

Time to separate the wheat from the chaff / the men from the boys / the strong from the weak / the sheep from the goats / the immortal from the lowly mortals.

First out we have Chabonowaka vs Pitinosato:

Chabonowaka

1. Italy

2. © Spain

3. Germany

4. Poland

5. Netherlands

6. Croatia

7. ® Denmark

Chabonowaka received the journalists at his mansion and gave the following statement during the exquisite ten course dinner:

"Well the 2nd round didn't go as well as i had hoped, but i placed my team pretty well. no losers on top of winners. just i didn't have enough winners. italy is a win-and-in, so they get the top slot. spain won't know yet, so they should still bring their good game, so they get 2. germany makes sense next, but i struggled with slots 4 and 5. i probably made the dumb choice, but the dutch have been killing me."

Pitinosato

1. Russia

2. France

3. ® Germany

4. Poland

5. Croatia

6. Greece

7. © Ireland

Pitinosato sent in his entry early. Even before the start of round 2:

"Here we go, without knowing the results of the 2. Round,

after the Greec's debacle they are a little lower in my ranking... :)"

Gyoji comment about the match:

Poland gets removed at slot 4. This match feels extremly open as I feel Russia, Germany, France, Italy and Spain having about the same chance to get a win in the last round. Personally I would say Italy and France are the strongest cards in the bunch but not by a huge margin.

Second match out is Pandaazuma vs XaioTan:

Pandaazuma

1. Germany

2. Netherlands

3. Czech Republic

4. ® Portugal

5. © Croatia

6. Ukraine

7. Ireland

In the Pandaazuma camp, the tones are still gloomy as we got the following statement from one of the assisting coaches dressed solely in black:

"Another nightmare. Only Germany looks a clear winner here, but I reckon the Dutch might wake up - they'll have to attack after all. My opponent has an advantage with Italy in his team against the woeful Ireland as well as Germany so I am very much the underdog here again. My best chance of progressing looks to be snatching a draw and hoping the other match is not a draw."

XiaoTan

1. Italy

2. Czech

3. Germany

4. ® Netherlands

5. © Greece

6. Ukraine

7. Ireland

XaioTan was unable to send a new entry for round two but managed to send the following message via trained falcons:

"Oh well , and I completely forgot and i am traveling - I stick to my round 2 lineup for round 3 please. Can't get any worse"

Gyoji comment about the match:

XaioTan's entry from week 2 acually works suprisingly well and could be a tall obstacle for Pandaasuma to surmount. In the first spot Germany is obviously the stronger team compaired to Denmark but do they have the will to take 3 p? 1 p is good enough for the Germans to secure the first place in the group while the Danes will fight tooth and nails for their survival.

Italy should be the "safest" win in the the whole round as they are levels over Ireland while they have everything to play for and Ireland nothing but pride.

Our dedicated representativs from the cheat-checking institution would like to make clear that all the players have gone through rigid tests and have come out clean, white and shining yet a third time.

The Gyoji would also like to hand out a thanks to those players in group B's that managed to send in early and full entries once more.

EDIT: Pitinosato sent in an updated lineup just in time!

Aarghh...my opponent is going to murder me here...I banked on Netherlands beating Portugal so it looks like I need Xiaotan's chain to break before we reach that nightmare fourth-slot R-R head-to-head! Basically, it looks like I'll need Holland to win or draw and Czech to lose to sneak this. If Czech don't lose, I'll need Ireland to beat Italy! Or a lot of drawn games. Oh, the ignomony of being beaten by someone putting a line-up tailored for round 2!

Miracle time again! Come on, Poland!!

Thanks to Kameumi for the entertaining gyoji-ing!
