Doitsuyama 1,173 Posted May 7, 2012 Hakuho won today agaimst Aran, but this time three of the six ozeki lost, leaving Baruto, Kisenosato and Kotoshogiku undefeated along with sekiwake Goeido who beat Kotooshu with a strong sukuinage. The new guy Chiyotairyu suffered a loss, facing a new level with Tochinoshin. In juryo Jokoryu got his first win in this division while Masakaze is still winless, and he also had five losses in juryo visits, at least one in each of the last four basho. At the top it's not looking good for Asahisho's makuuchi promotion campaign at 0-2, but Kotoyuki does well at 2-0 after his unique hikiotoshi win over Ikioi. Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted May 7, 2012 Good to see Kotoyuki fighting well. His bout preparation rituals are legendary - love that roar he gives just before the final crouch-down (Europe's follow-up single??) His bout against Ikioi yesterday was one of the best of the whole day. Is it blasphemy to say I don't like Jokoryu's sumo? Weak tachiai and doesn't dominate bouts. He's still learning, of course, but he doesn't look all that great to me yet. An inordinate number of his wins seem to be great escapes, which is a great skill in itself, of course. He must have something to have got the record, but...
