Here is the Hakuho poll for 2012.

Please put your prediction in the comments below, so we can see who was closest at the end of the year. Please also remember to add your guess at the 'Doitsuyama Bonus Question' - namely the most wins-in-a-row that Hakuho will be able to string together during 2012. He ended 2011 with a loss, so his first potential winning streak will start with day 1 of the January Basho.

I say 4 yushos, including 1 zensho yusho, and a total of 76-80 wins for the year (I am thinking exactly 80). For the bonus Doitsuyama question, I think he will string together 28 wins in-a-row, including his zensho yusho....

3 yusho, 1 of them zensho, 71-75 wins with an injury-shortened basho somewhere. 21-rensho.

4 yusho, 2 zensho, 77 wins, string of 25. Agree with Asashosakari that he is due for an injury basho. My yusho on this poll will be just as klutzy as last year's.

3 yusho.

1 zensho.

76-80 wins, assuming of course we have six basho. :-)

33 rensho. Hopeless exact prediction: in the form of 11-15-7. (Sign of approval...)

Hakuho said his goal this year is to reach 25 yusho.

I predict he'll win 5 yusho (only nervous about that because it's one more than he's predicting himself)

2 zensho yusho

81 wins

24 wins in a row (I don't anticipate that Hakuho will ever have a record approaching streak again; it's just too hard and even for someone as talented as him, requires some luck.)

Another closing poll....

85% of us think that he will end up with 4 or 5 yushos this year (so clearly not slowing down by much).

80% of us think that he will get at least one zensho yusho, with 50% of us predicting that he will get two.

70% of us think that he will get 76-82 wins this year.

Hakuho ended up with 2 yushos - predicted by just one anonymous predictor.

He had no zensho yusho - predicted by two anonymous predictors.

He ended up with a total of 76 wins for 2012 (in the 76 - 80 range) - 40% of us got this correct. Asojima was very close with 77 wins!

His longest winning streak was just 14 (the first 14 days of the July basho) - closest was Asashokari with 21.

Yusho for this poll goes to Yubinhaad. Jun-yusho to Asashosakari.
