Treblemaker 252 Posted September 26, 2011 Thanks for the pictures and the effort- deeply appreciated by all I'm sure.. I am sure the effort is appreciated but I won't be making any more thank you comments. I don't want to get any more messages from a moderator telling me that my thank you posts are "testing the patience of some readers"and that "many readers click on each new post, and it can be quite a letdown to "just" read another "thank you'". As I stated to the moderator, I will now become a sumo forum lurker. Apparently this place needs more of them. So to whomever it was that had their patience tested, you win. (Showing respect...) Oh, for crying out loud. Is this for real? A "moderator" actually gave you $h!t for thanking someone - however many times? Seriously? Listen, if someone takes the time and effort to contribute to this forum, and those that enjoy their contributions are good enough to thank them for their work, that speaks well of the forum, because as we all know, there are FAR more passive lurkers who read and enjoy than there are those who make an effort, either to contribute or to express their gratitude. And honestly, to those who would complain about another member thanking a contributor - however many times - well, like, how much effort and sleep did you lose with the loss of one click? If anything, the said member should have PM-ed you to suggest that perhaps one "thanks" might be enough... To "run to Daddy" is the stuff of Kindergarten. I don't know who moderates this Forum, but geezz.. Lighten up a bit. Quite a few people like Kinta, Fay, Asojima, Doit, Asasho, et al take a lot of time and effort to make sumo enjoyable for all, and if other deem it good enough to warrant a response in kind, that's OK in my books. If other members find it offensive and a "letdown" to see a "thank you" in progress - no matter HOW often, because that sort of thing comes from the heart, well, I suggest that maybe they should go buy a sense of humour and a degree of appreciation. As one of those posters who does click on each new post, let me just say that I appreciate every thank-you of yours, whether it was directed at me or somebody else. Oh, for crying out loud. Is this for real? A "moderator" actually gave you $h!t for thanking someone - however many times? Seriously? As the recipient of this particular expression of appreciation, I find myself in agreement with the moderator. Each basho, I post 15 daily pic collections which are viewed by at least 100 members and are sometimes the recipient of welcome replies. I consider each view and reply as a "thank you". Gratuitous daily "thank you" postings, while well intentioned, are nuisances that need to be checked to see if there is a problem. A single "thank you" for the entire basho would serve the same purpose as a lot of daily ones. In the past, I have found myself ignoring constructive posts on the assumption that it was 'just another' thank you. I have privately suggested to several people that they limit this type of posting so that they would be considered as a serious contributor. I will now step down from my yearly trip to the top of the soap box.

But if someone does something nice for me each and every day, I would probably thank them, each and every day. That's my nature. But I hear where you're coming from.
