Hakuho beat Tokitenku to remained undefeated while Kotoshogiku had a quick win against fellow pursuer Kisenosato to stay on course for a possible ozeki promotion. Gagamaru showed really good sumo against Goeido, winning with a timely kotenage throw to improve to 9-1. Baruto and Kitataiki managed to get the kachi-koshi today with five rikishi in position to so tomorrow (at least one is sure as Kyokutenho and Goeido are paired up).

Toyonoshima won the make-koshi battle against fellow komusubi Aran, but at 3-7 it's not unlikely that both komusubi slots will be vacant even if Toyonoshima has only opponents from M2 downward left. The hot candidates all lost today with Homasho, Tochiozan and Goeido, giving Okinoumi new hope as he beat Yoshikaze for his fourth win.

Myogiryu had another good showing in the win over Kyokushuho and tomorrow he will face Hokutokuni who fell one more loss behind with the fall against Kimikaze. Matsutani might be the only other yusho contender left as he beat Takarafuji to stay one win behind and still has to face Myogiryu. Chiyoarashi has the best record of the six shin-sekitori as he had an easy win over Hamanishiki after a matta deluge and is 7-3 now. Chiyonokuni and Nionoumi also are 7-3 at a career high rank, both in their second juryo basho.
