Hello

Recommended Posts

Good evening all.

I am The Mighty Tim (though most people leave off the mighty bit!). I'm a bit of a sumo noob, having only recently got into following the sport, so you'll have to bear with me if I display a lack of knowledge and whatnot. Also I know very little Japanese (what I do know, I've picked up from Sumo Live Streaming and watching Battle Royale a few times!).

I'm looking forward to having many fun sumo-related discussions with you all! :)

PS: I realise this probably won't stand me in good stead with regards to first impressions and so forth, but I goofed on my original registration to this site, having inadvertantly provided an email address that no longer functions. So, if there are two registrations with this name (or similar), that would be the reason. I apologise for that!

Thanks for the welcome, all! (I also have been known to introduce myself by saying "I....am an enchanter!!" :D)

I suppose the next stage is to go and choose myself a shikona of some sort. But how does one go about that? Any suggestions? Thanks!

How about "Kyoudaitimu"?

I like that!

What's the Antarctica connection?

I spent six weeks on an Antarctic research station at the start of the year. Perk of my job. :D

As it happens, it was in the library of this station, that by chance, I discovered a book about Sumo, which piqued my interest in the sport. I had seen bits and pieces of sumo before, but the book got me interested. So I decided that when I got back, I'd follow the next basho. Unfortunately, this happened to be the cancelled March basho. But it gave me ample opportunity to read up on the sport.
