Doitsuyama 1,263 Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) The makuuchi leader group is rapidly shrinking as only Homasho and Tochinowaka are still without a loss among the maegashira and Kakuryu fell to co-leader Harumafuji. Hakuho and Baruto are the other two undefeated sanyaku, the latter one getting a fusensho as winless Tosayutaka is kyujo with a knee injury. Only two rikishi in action are without a win yet with overmatched Wakakoyu and shin-makuuchi Takarafuji. Ah yes, and Kaio got his first win of the basho against Toyonoshima in a news-friendly short affair to let everyone (in Japan at least) know that he tied Chiyonofuji's all-time career win record of 1045 wins. Tsurugidake won the bout between two of the juryo leaders against Hitenryu, showing good defense at the dohyo edge, and then saw the other two leaders Chiyonokuni and Shironoryu lose to become the first sole leader of the basho. The European duo had another couple of good bouts, both improving to 3-1. Matsutani mysteriously is losing left and right this basho, already down to 0-4, coming off two successive 7-0 basho. shumitto 419 Posted July 13, 2011 I was curious about the math so I've decided to share: Chiyonofuji won 1045 bouts out of 1473 (including 170 absences) - win average .7094 (absences counted as losses). Kaio's 1045th win came on his 1725th bout (including 158 absences) - win average .6057 (idem)
