Vikanohara 171 Posted July 10, 2011 Vikanohara's Day 1 I've had a great start of the basho : * winning 9-7 in Sumo Game (Kaio ruining a perfect score) (In a state of confusion...) * picking 3/4 winners (with a losing Ozeki) in Seki Quad * choosing the right side in ISP, though they pictured Tochinowaka the older, so I hope it will count * surviving day 1 in ChainGang walking with the kadoban Ozeki * scoring 5/6 in FAWL (my favourite Toyonoshima managed an upset, costing me a point, but gladly taken) A little more troublesome, mostly for Juryo Game & RotoSumo are the losses of Matsutani, Aoiyama, Takanoyama & Myogiryu. (Applauding...) And the 'close but no cigar' prize of day 1 went to Odd Sumo, in which I had 8 guys in mind, of which I eventually picked 5, with this result : Kimurayama (1.50) Toyohibiki (1.50) Tochiozan (1.86) Okinoumi (1.70) Hakuho (1.10) - - - - - - - - - - - - Kitataiki (1.50) Kaisei (1.50) Kakuryu (1.79) If only I replaced Kimurayama with one of the three 'benched' rikishi. Vikanohara 171 Posted July 12, 2011 Day 3 Daido has cost me 2x today. In Sumo Game I first had Tochiozan in 10th position, but pulled him out for Daido, eventually just causing me to lose 8-8. And in Seki-Quad he & Masunoyama were my losers today. Another black sheep of the day is Kaisei, who I went for in ISP and is costing me 2 from the 4 points I dropped in first three days of FAWL. Vikanohara 171 Posted July 14, 2011 Day 4 5/6 in FAWL (if Baruto's fusen win counts), a 7-7 victory over Shiyonofuji in Sumo Game, going 3-1 in ISP and still surviving in ChainGang, so not a bad day. Though I could have won some more ante in Odd Sumo if I had gone for my first thought of leaving Kimurayama & Kitataiki out. In Seki-Quad I didn't stand a chance today, so I need to start picking things up again. Meanwhile, Matsutani is worrying me considering my RotoSumo entry & Tosayutaka's injury will really hurt my total points in the Stable Development Game. Vikanohara 171 Posted July 14, 2011 Disaster Day 5 - went out in ChainGang : I should have picked Harumafuji instead of Kotooshu - lost 3 ante in Odd Sumo as I relied too much on all Ozeki - went from 2-0 to 2-3 in Seki-Quad, here thanks to both Bulgarian (Sigh...) - only scored 2 points in FAWL today - and last, but not least : among all Sumo Game players, I was among the 15 guys (of which 7 sekitori) scoring at least 8/10, but so did my opponent and therefor another defeat (I shouldn't have asked for an epic battle (Laughing...) ) At least I picked the right side on ISP again, as a small consolation. But that 8-8 defeat in Sumo Game hurts. I would like to finish KK, as next basho I won't be able to play. And my dream is to ever reach Makunouchi in that game. Randomitsuki 2,914 Posted July 15, 2011 Weird basho for me so far. Normally performances in most pre-basho games are highly correlated, and the same goes for daily games. But this time, everything is across the board. For instance, with near-identical teams I am solidly in the upper half of Paper Oyakata, but deeply buried in the bottom of Ozumo Bingo. Andonishiki 171 Posted July 15, 2011 great start, but day 5&6 brought reality back... bench: 3:3 (after 3:0 and high hopes for a shot towards juryo) sg: 4:2 tipspiel 60 pts toto: 4:2 s-q: 3:3 and most of the heavyweights taken odd: one good day, but bad luck (one loser each) for the rest isp: 4:2 cg: how stupid to pick ozan again ! gka: 1:6 wtf ??. maegashiraspiel: still top ten, but no 3-winner-day yet pre-games: a mixed bag... will be in Nagoya for the last w-end... got tix for Sat, but queuing for day tix on Sun... who else wanna queue with me at 7am-ish ? Vikanohara 171 Posted July 19, 2011 Day 10 Another not so great day : - only 1/6 in FAWL (would have been 3/6 if Takarafuji had won) (Sign of approval...) - 2/4 in Seki-Quad (Takanoyama & Takarafuji) and so I went from 5-3 to 5-5 - almost ante won in Odd Sumo, but Baruto decided differently - and that means I also went for Baruto in ISP of course - Kosei had his second defeat, and I need him to get KK for Longest KK Streak game, while Takarafuji is almost certain of MK now Luckily Sumo Game offered me some consolation with a 8-7 victory. Vikanohara 171 Posted July 24, 2011 Nagoya 2011 Evaluation Well, a basho to forget as for daily games : - finished 7-8 in Sumo Game after a lot of points scored overall (equally good as the best), so clearly unlucky - finished 6-9 in Seki-Quad, while I had been at 5-3 at some point - 21,17 ante left in Odd Sumo, and who would have thought a certain Hakuho would make me drop below the KK/MK line ? - finished 7-8 in ISP, also after having been pretty positive at 6-2- and went out on day 4 in Chain Gang, which is only decent, nothing more Next basho I'll be on holiday, so I won't play the daily games then.
