Exil 301 Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) This communique has two parts: Forum login now requires email address and Changing your email address. Forum Login Now Requires Email Address Due to recent advances in forum hacking techniques, it can no longer be considered good practice to use a publicly visible user name to log in to public forums. User names are easily obtained by simply browsing the forum and can then be used to launch massive brute force attacks on the forum in question. Because most of our forum members have been using their visible user name to log in, we have changed the login method for all users. As of 2011-04-10 you are required to use your email address to log in. If you have forgotten your email address you will not be able to log in. Your password is the same as before. Note that the email address is your registered email address. You can check your registered email address in My Controls -> Change Email Address -> Your current email address to make sure it is up-to-date. If you wish to change your registered email address, please read the following post. TL;DR, from 2011-04-10 on you need to log in using your email address. Exil 301 Posted March 29, 2011 Changing your email address In order to change your registered email address, you need to have access to both new and old accounts. When you change your email address, you will receive an email with instructions on how to complete the operation. Your account will be locked from when you change the email address until you re-activate it. You can change your email address in My Controls -> Change Email Address. If you can no longer access your old email account for whatever reason, please contact me by PM. AOL Mail users cannot change their email account manually. If you are unsure about anything, please contact me before attempting to change your email address. TL;DR, you need to have access to your old email account, if you don't PM me.
