Mark Buckton Posted March 29, 2004 Author Posted March 29, 2004 FEW LINKS TO WHAT THE LOCALS ARE SAYING. Gusoyama Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 Who is able to stop him to make 45-0??? I hate to mention it, but his own back/waist injury may be the only thing that can stop him. He was griping about it at the beginning of this basho, and I'd keep an eye on it given the longer-than-normal-for-him bouts that Asa had this time around. Thats just my opinion, though, I could be way off.
aderechelsea Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 the back thing worries me a bit too but i believe Asa is a fighter and he won't give up unless the problem is really serious.... this basho , with problems , he had another zensho yusho. If he is completely ok what more should we expect ?
Yoavoshimaru Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 You can never tell. I don't think his injury is serious, or he wouldn't have gone 15-0 ;) And now he has time to heal before the next basho. But I still wouldn't bet on another zensho yusho, the statistics against 3 in a row are staggering.

I doubt there are a lot of sekitori out there right now that can beat him....
Yubiquitoyama Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 I doubt there are a lot of sekitori out there right now that can beat him.... It only takes one.
Yoavoshimaru Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Out of statto curiosity: suppose Asashoryu is injured and kyujo in natsu, making an 0-0-15 record. Then he comes back the following basho: is his streak alive or over?
