Day 8 results and day 9 pairings

Recommended Posts

The makuuchi leader group whittled down to five rikishi as only Kitataiki survived the carnage among the maegashira rikishi at 6-1 and ozeki Harumafuji lost to ozeki candidate Baruto, leaving Hakuho, Asashoryu, Kotooshu, Baruto and Kitataiki at 7-1. Baruto has to face another important bout tomorrow against co-leader Kotooshu.

Gagamaru still is going strong, easily beating Kasuganishiki for his seventh win and claiming the sole juryo yusho lead as Sakaizawa and Okinoumi lost, the latter in a makuuchi visit against Iwakiyama. Shin-sekitori Sokokurai also is looking very good, getting another no-frills win, this time against Kiyoseumi.

Gagamaru flies! Another goergian rikishi will be Makuuchi soon, I think. (Sign of approval...)

There is a headline in an Estonian news-portal today (I kid you not) that reads "Super-Baruto beats another foe for 7th win!"

I love the fact that they are covering Baruto's wins more in the local media, but that's just plain funny - Super-Baruto!

Delfi is not very good in writing but they meant it more like "SUPER - Baruto beats another .."
