Randomitsuki 2,778 Posted September 24, 2009 I must admit that I've never logged into the NSK site since - well, since the inception of the Doitsubase. Noticing that SumoDB currently doesn't provide bout updates I presume that NSK has changed the structures/URLs for their pages. Furthermore, I noticed something interesting in the URL. http://sumo.goo.ne.jp/eng/hon_basho/torikumi/tori_537_1_1.html This looks interesting, given that http://sumo.goo.ne.jp/eng/hon_basho/torikumi/tori_1_1_1.html provides you with the message: "This page is under preparation." Does anyone know what was changed on the NSK pages? Does anyone about their plans for future Web pages? Will they simply provide a link to SumoDB?
Golynohana 316 Posted September 24, 2009 I can see the torikumi at the old links: http://sumo.goo.ne.jp/eng/hon_basho/torikumi/tori_1_13.html and http://sumo.goo.ne.jp/eng/hon_basho/torikumi/tori_2_13.html bit my site can't read it. (Censored...) I will need to check the html code.
Asashosakari 18,867 Posted September 24, 2009 FWIW, I don't see any (visible) page elements that haven't already been there since the last minor changes at least a year ago. Same for the URL format. (And the odd basho counter dates back to at least 2003.)
Golynohana 316 Posted September 24, 2009 (edited) I think there are some network problems on sumogames.com. I can get the torikumi and results from NSK site using my site locally. But on sumogames.com it doesn't work. I get the error message "The remote name could not be resolved: 'sumo.goo.ne.jp'" Also I get messages like "The remote name could not be resolved: 'www.sumogames.com'" in my results grabber's log file (my result grabber runs on sumogames.com server). Kofuji mentioned that the server has been recently moved to other place. Maybe it has sth to do with this problem. Doitsuyama 1,173 Posted September 24, 2009 Hmm, that's weird. I'm watching the results on my localhost version of Sumo Reference and everything is fine here. No time now, but I will have a look later.
Asashosakari 18,867 Posted September 24, 2009 Impatiently kicking the Kofuji-written results grabber via my Toto rescoring access didn't work either...Golynohana's probably on the right track about network issues.
Randomitsuki 2,778 Posted September 24, 2009 SumoDB is updated. Now we need someone to kick the results grabber... And I will kick this thread from "Ozumo Discussion" to "Off Topic", as my initial post was much ado about nothing...

Kicking the result grabber likely won't be of any use. I updated Sumo Reference manually with a crappy internet connection while driving with an ICE from Cologne to Berlin... now if Kofuji can redirect the result grabber to the Sumo Reference database everything would work, but that's unlikely to happen I guess. What link were you using before? Last year they had URLs (at least from the main NSK page) that had POST items in the URL for specifying everything. When they had server problems 4 or 5 basho ago (I forget which one), they switched to this new system, although the old system also continued to work. the pages should return the same. For "this page is under prep," any URL that has valid numbers for Kekka and day will give you that message, even if you put basho #1000.
Asashosakari 18,867 Posted September 24, 2009 (edited) Kicking the result grabber likely won't be of any use. Yes, I've had to realize that in the meantime; I guess the scoring routine is dependent on the results being there in the first place and only the scoring itself can be triggered manually. I do think the grabber is supposed to re-check at regular intervals on its own, so I wonder if it's still completely down and out. The bigger issue (for me, anyway) than the lack of results is of course that tomorrow's torikumi for Toto also isn't available yet. Edit: Ah, I see there's already a dedicated thread in Games for me to fret in... Edited September 24, 2009 by Asashosakari
Golynohana 316 Posted September 24, 2009 (edited) I am updating results manually on the server. Hopefully everything will be ready in one hour BTW results and torikumi on my site are already done Edited September 24, 2009 by Golynohana
Golynohana 316 Posted September 24, 2009 Uff, done. Day 12 results are in db now and entry forms for day 13 are ready. If you spot any bugs please let me know. I entered all data manually. I hope I won't have to go through the same tomorrow...
