Doitsuyama 1,157 Posted November 22, 2003 The yusho will be decided in the Senshuraku showdown between Yokozuna Asashoryu and Ozeki Tochiazuma who won their bouts today. Dejima won too, but his only goal left is winning the joint jun-yusho. Musoyama won against a lacklustre Kyokushuzan and easily got rid off the kadoban status. It is unfair to pinpoint Kyokushuzan though, as a lot of Makuuchi bouts were quite spiritless yesterday and today. Kokkai is leading with three wins over Ushiomaru, Oikari and Kitazakura and is sure of the Juryo yusho. Only five Makuuchi-Juryo bouts the whole basho which must be at least close to an all-time low... Their won't be many demotion froms Juryo besides retired Aogiyama as most rikishi have acceptable records to stay. Only Dewanofuji and Senshuyama look like sure demotions. Nakao and Bushuyama fended off the Mongolian avalanche sending Tokitenku and Ama to make-koshi. Tomorrow we have another two more promotion candidates needing a last victory sent up to Juryo to prove themselves with Hamanishiki and Tochifudo. -- Doitsuyama Makuuchi yusho arasoi Two losses Three losses Four losses Five losses Six losses ------------- ------------- ------------- ------------- ------------- Asashoryu Dejima Chiyotaikai Kaio Musoyama Tochiazuma Hokutoriki Tosanoumi Tochinonada Tamanoshima Toki Kyokushuzan Kasuganishiki Takekaze Yotsukasa Day 14 Juryo J12e Nakao (7-7) oshidashi Ms1w Tokitenku (3-4) J12w Bushuyama (7-7) tsukiotoshi Ms1e Ama (3-4) J10e Senshuyama (4-10) yorikiri J8e Juzan (4-10) J7e Futeno (7-7) yorikiri J11e Tochinohana (7-7) J9e Masutsuyoshi (6-8) okuritaoshi J6e Chiyotenzan (7-7) J5e Kitazakura (10-4) okuridashi J6w Kaido (5-9) J5w Harunoyama (8-6) yorikiri J10w Dewanofuji (3-11) J4w Hayateumi (8-6) yorikiri J7w Kasugao (8-6) J3e Asanowaka (9-5) oshidashi J13e Towanoyama (8-6) J9w Takanotsuru (8-6) yorikiri J2e Wakanoyama (4-10) J2w Kokkai (13-1) uwatedashinage J3w Kobo (7-7) J11w Oikari (10-4) tsukidashi J1e Kaiho (8-6) Makuuchi M14e Toyozakura (6-8) oshidashi J4e Ushiomaru (10-4) M12w Takanowaka (6-8) katasukashi M10e Jumonji (7-7) M10w Tochisakae (7-7) oshitaoshi M13e Tamakasuga (5-9) M8w Kakizoe (7-7) oshidashi M13w Otsukasa (5-9) M7e Hokutoriki (10-4) oshidashi M15w Yotsukasa (8-6) M14w Dejima (11-3) oshidashi M7w Kotoryu (7-7) M11w Takekaze (8-6) hatakikomi M6e Kinkaiyama (6-8) M11e Wakatoba (7-7) tsuridashi M6w Tokitsuumi (7-7) M9w Shimotori (7-7) uwatenage M5e Takanonami (5-9) M8e Buyuzan (4-10) oshidashi M3e Aminishiki (4-10) M3w Tamanoshima (9-5) yorikiri M9e Kasuganishiki (8-6) M2w Tosanoumi (9-5) oshidashi M2e Toki (8-6) M1w Kotomitsuki (5-9) oshidashi M4w Asasekiryu (3-11) K1e Takamisakari (5-9) hatakikomi M1e Tochinonada (8-6) K1w Iwakiyama (5-9) uwatedashinage M4e Miyabiyama (5-9) S1e Wakanosato (7-7) yorikiri S1w Kyokutenho (3-11) O2w Musoyama (8-6) tsukidashi M5w Kyokushuzan (8-6) O1w Tochiazuma (12-2) oshidashi O2e Kaio (9-5) Y1e Asashoryu (12-2) hatakikomi O1e Chiyotaikai (10-4) Day 15 Makushita Ms10e Hokutojo (1-5) Ms19e Ashu (1-5) Ms8e Kotokasuga (2-4) Ms12e Tamanokuni (2-4) Ms5w Sentoryu (2-4) Ms4w Asofuji (2-4) Ms5e Roho (4-2) Ms3w Gokenzan (4-2) Ms2e Wakainami (2-4) Ms4e Daishodai (2-4) Juryo Ms6w Hamanishiki (4-2) J10w Dewanofuji (3-11) J10e Senshuyama (4-10) Ms6e Tochifudo (4-2) J8e Juzan (4-10) J7w Kasugao (8-6) J7e Futeno (7-7) J6w Kaido (5-9) J6e Chiyotenzan (7-7) J12w Bushuyama (7-7) J9e Masutsuyoshi (6-8) J4w Hayateumi (8-6) J4e Ushiomaru (10-4) J5w Harunoyama (8-6) J12e Nakao (7-7) J3w Kobo (7-7) J3e Asanowaka (9-5) J11w Oikari (10-4) J9w Takanotsuru (8-6) J2w Kokkai (13-1) J2e Wakanoyama (4-10) J11e Tochinohana (7-7) J1e Kaiho (8-6) J13e Towanoyama (8-6) Makuuchi M13e Tamakasuga (5-9) J5e Kitazakura (10-4) M14e Toyozakura (6-8) M12w Takanowaka (6-8) M13w Otsukasa (5-9) M11w Takekaze (8-6) M10e Jumonji (7-7) M11e Wakatoba (7-7) M9e Kasuganishiki (8-6) M8w Kakizoe (7-7) M8e Buyuzan (4-10) M9w Shimotori (7-7) M7w Kotoryu (7-7) M6w Tokitsuumi (7-7) M15w Yotsukasa (8-6) M5w Kyokushuzan (8-6) M4e Miyabiyama (5-9) M10w Tochisakae (7-7) M14w Dejima (11-3) M3w Tamanoshima (9-5) M2e Toki (8-6) M7e Hokutoriki (10-4) M6e Kinkaiyama (6-8) M1w Kotomitsuki (5-9) M1e Tochinonada (8-6) M2w Tosanoumi (9-5) M5e Takanonami (5-9) K1w Iwakiyama (5-9) K1e Takamisakari (5-9) M3e Aminishiki (4-10) M4w Asasekiryu (3-11) S1w Kyokutenho (3-11) S1e Wakanosato (7-7) O2w Musoyama (8-6) O1e Chiyotaikai (10-4) O2e Kaio (9-5) Y1e Asashoryu (12-2) O1w Tochiazuma (12-2)
tominishiki 0 Posted November 22, 2003 And we also having I think a record of most rikishi with 7-7 in the last day 7 rikishi with a 7-7 record thats a record
Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted November 22, 2003 That's an interesting trivia point tominishiki-zeki. Is it true?? Is it too early to speculate on Dejima's rank in hatsu basho? (Alien stuff...)
Yubiquitoyama 4 Posted November 22, 2003 (edited) And we also having I think a record of most rikishi with 7-7 in the last day 7 rikishi with a 7-7 record thats a record There are actually 8 7-7 rikishi in Makunouchi and 6 in Juryo. That is, however, still not a record, since more than that has happened before. I don't know what the record is, but going back to 1989, the record is 11 7-7 Makunouchi rikishi going into the last day, which ended with 9 KK and 2 MK (!). There are also several basho with 10 7-7 Makunouchi rikishi, namely 1989.03, 1989.07, 1992.01, 1999.09 and 2001.07. For sekitori (Makunouchi plus Juryo), the record during the same time is 18 in 1989.07 followed by 17 in 1992.01 and 16 in 2001.07. :-) Edited November 22, 2003 by Yubiquitoyama
Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted November 22, 2003 I also didn't think the 8 7-7 rikishi was a record, but I don't have Yubi-zeki's amazing fountain of sumo knowledge in my head :-) Thanks. (Sign of approval)
