Change of mind. Knee still bad BUT Shishio will participate in Nagoya! (In a state of confusion...)

Good attitude. Just as long as he doesn't risk destroying it altogether, it's betteer to keep going. Kaio made a whole career out of doing good sumo despite his injuries. Remember when it turned out he'd fought a whole basho with a broken bone in his strong right hand? I don't recall the exact words in the interview but the gist was "It was good. It made me develop techniques with the other hand." My kind of rikishi.

This is confirmed. Jk28E Shishio is NOT on the kyujo list that was published on the NSK website within the past hour.

If he doesn't participate at least some of this basho wouldn't he go banzuke gai?

If he can at least go a few matches & get a couple wins this saves him from that!! Unless I'm wrong?

I wish him luck & will cheer him on Meike's behalf (Bow...) when I get to Nagoya!!!

He only needs to participate in a single match to avoid banzuke-gai. No win is necessary. That is why a bunch of jonokuchis return from kyujo on day 11 or so. If you can hobble onto the dohyo for one match, you avoid BG.

Thank you for the clarification. I thought a couple of guys I remembered just showed up for two matches near the end. I don't remember if they won or lost.

Starting at the beginning isn't a bad idea! Should you win you can keep on going if you feel ok!!!

Thanks again!

I cheered him on, was great to see! He has a lot of support in the audience, not just his parents and ILoveTochinoshin's crew (Sign of approval...)
